She heard a knock, and her heart started beating faster by the second. It was Jeff, she hadn't seen him in a week. Half of her wanted to leap into his arms and pretend it's all okay. But what he did has definitely changed it for them both. Olivia fiddled with the door handle and opened it, revealing Jeff. He was dressed nicely, not suit and tie, but very presentable. She let him in and they both sat on her couch. An awkward distance between them.
"Olivia, I'm so sorry. I really am. I didn't mean it and I don't want to lose you. I don't know why I did what I did, and I'm sorry." Jeff pleaded. "Please forgive me." Olivia felt bad. But her mind was telling her that he had his hands on another girl, so she shouldn't feel bad.
"Please tell me you care." Jeff spoke. "I need you, Vi." She hadn't heard that in a while. She stood up and grabbed the small box of roses, then another one, then another one. Until she'd brought them all out to put in front of him. She huffed and sat down.
"If I didn't care, I wouldn't have these." She replied. "And I want you back. That's why I called you here. I still love you so much, Jeff. But I can't just forgive and forget." A tear fell from her eye. "I want to be with you but I don't want this to happen again."
"It won't. I know it'll take a while for you to trust me again and I'm willing to do anything to get you back. I love you, Vi. So much that this is worth it. I'll always come back to you."
