I walk down the trench and look to the troopers. All lined up against the wall, ready to go. Some are scared, and some are loving it, some are waiting and wanting to go, and others just don't want to die. I don't care anymore. I walk down, and then I find them. My squad. I squeeze in and they all look to me. Chuck speaks eager for revenge.
Chuck: Took you long enough
Me: For all that have died on this god forsaken planet
I hear all of Spirit speak
Spirit Squad: For all that have died on this god forsaken planet.
I smile as I look to the sky. The last bombers are bombing the shit out of the enemy force. I see other aircraft dropping tons of napalm bombs onto the forest. The waiting kills me. Not the enemy, not the fighting, no not any of that. The waiting. After what seems like thousands of explosions and an eternity. The whistle is blown. We all jump over the trench and run into the burning forest. I feel the heat, the burn, the power, the rush. I love it. We run and run. Soon explosions erupt around us, and bolts fly everywhere. I run and run. I hear a tree fall right behind me. I laugh out loud as I feel the rush of it all. I hear the hitting of bolts all around me. And the artillery firing. We didn't get it all. We didn't get the hostile artillery gun emplacements. Suddenly I realize. Horror quickly overtakes the rush, and I notice that this truly is suicide. I look behind me and see Spirit Squad. I scream to them.
Me: Scatter!
They hear me and run as far apart as an artillery shell hits right near them. I see other clones fly into the sky as I rush to them. I get there and see Dean laying on the ground. He is bleeding from the neck.
Me: Shit! Dean no!
I rush to him, and I grab him under both armpits and I drag him behind a rock. He looks at me and he tries to speak. He can't, all that comes out is a gurgle of pain.
Me: Fuck! Medic! Medic!
Nobody hears me, and I watch as men rush past us. The person that does hear me is Angel. She quickly rushes across the barren land. I fear for her. Bolts go around her, and she is so close. I can hear her panting as she runs towards us. I see a shine in the distance. I notice exactly what it is.
Me: Angel, get dow-!
I hear a blast off in the distance and everything slows down. I see the impact. She gets hit in the head. She falls to the ground and her helmet flies off her head. I see it roll in front of me, and I continue to stare at her. Her head pointed directly at us. Looking into my soul. I look to Dean and take off his helmet. He looks at me and I frantically grab my bag. I grab nothing. I have no medical supplies. I look at him. Tears forming in my eyes as he slowly dies. He lets out a final gurgle of pain, and he slumps.
Me: No! No! No! Damnit!
I frantically check for a pulse. There is nothing. I grab his dog tags and rip them from his bleeding neck. I put them around my neck and I do the same for Angel. Red, Hacksaw, and Chuck run to me. In all my anger I rush forwards. The fire engulfs me as I run towards the enemy MG emplacements. An artillery shell lands close and sends me flying. I quickly get to my feet and grab my weapon. It's hard to walk and to breath. I see men of the 212th fall, and get shredded. We get to the entrenchment and I find a burning emplacement. It's still firing bolts into the battlefield. I run to it as men pour into the trench.
Chuck: No Spirit don't!
I ignore him and jump in front of the slit in the building. I fire into it from the hip. I laugh and smile maniacally. A sadistic smile on my face as I destroy the already dead droids. I jump on top of it and then into the trench. In front of me is a squad of droids. I still laugh as I fire into the group. Revenge feels good, too good. I turn around and see Sunshine. He runs past me and to the doorway of a room. He fires into it nonstop. I rush past him and turn a corner. I see even more. I spray more into the group. I hit one in the head, then another twice in the body, and I melt the legs of another. The fighting cools off, and I walk down towards the down group. I see a blaster raise, and fire. Then again. Both miss me and I fire five times into it.  I look behind me to see Chuck. He has two burns on his chest. My feeling of anger once again turns to one of fear. I look at him as he falls to the ground. I throw my helmet off and crouch down. I take his helmet off and I look into his pained eyes.
Me: Chuck, Chuck!?
Chuck: S-Spirit...
Me: Don't you fucking dare die!
Chuck: I'm.. sorry..
Me: No!
Chuck: I-I see the light... it's so pretty
Me: Chuck no! Don't go to it!
Chuck: It's calling to me... I'm tired
Me: No! Stay awake!
Chuck: It's finally over, we won. The orders, the nightmares, the battles, it's... all... over...
He quiets down at the last part, and he slumps. His eyes wide open and bloodshot.
Me: C-Chuck?
I hear footsteps behind me as troopers rush to secure the rest of the trench.
