Chapter 27

-another year later-

"Mama." Avery says quietly from here crib in the closet.

I open the door to the walk in closet and smile at her. I pick her up and kiss her cheek. I give her the sippy cup from my hand and she grabs it and starts drinking the PediaSure in it.

Avery has to drink PediaSure every morning due to her small size.

"Do you wanna go wake up daddy?" I ask her.

"Yeah." She says as her eyes widen in excitement.

I smile at her and take her back into the bedroom. She starts to squirm in my arms and drops her cup on the ground.

I see Jeff sleeping peacefully on the bed cuddled up with the sheets. I smile at him and then set Avery down on the ground.

"Go get him little bean." I say.

She crawls over to him slowly and then puts her hands on his chest and standing up. She falls on top of him and a groan escapes Jeff's lips. She gets back up and flops down onto him again and I laugh as he opens his eyes and groans again.

"Good morning baby." I say kissing him.

"Yucky." Avery says covering her eyes.

I laugh and grab her. I kiss her cheek several times and she giggles.

"Hi daddy." She says smiling at him.

He kisses her cheek and smiles back at her.

"Hey little bean." He says.

She gets out of my arms and hugs him. She closes his eyes and he rubs her back. He gives her a small kiss on her head and I smile.

"Let's go eat breakfast. The kids friends took them to school." I say kissing him.

"Alright. Let's go Avery." He says getting up while holding her.

They walk out of the room and I get up and put on some different clothes. I put on a light yellow shirt and white pants.

I walk out of the room after I change and see Jeff already making breakfast.

I grab a blanket because I'm cold and wrap it around myself. I go up behind him and hug him using the blanket to wrap him up too. I feel him set whatever was in his hand and then he turns around to face me with a smile.

I look up at him and he bends down to kiss me. I wrap my arms even tighter around him and smile into the kiss. He pulls away and puts his chin on my head.

"Baby, I love you so much." He says.

"I love you too." I say.

"Daddy! Food is burning." Avery says.

"Shit." He mumbles turning around and looking at the food.

He turns off the burner and moves the pan off of it.

My phone starts ringing so I grab it and answer.

Hospital: hello, is this Paisley Wittek?

Me: yes this is she.

Hospital: um, your mother is in the hospital right now due to a car accident. She is in critical condition. We don't think she will have much longer due to her injuries.

Me: omg. I-I'll be there soon.

I hang up the phone and I run into Jeff's arms. Tears start falling out of my eyes as I hold onto him.

"Shh, what's wrong baby?" He asks.

"My mom, s-she's in the hospital from a car accident." I say still crying.
