Heroes are human too

Chap 11

As planned, both of the heroes met later that day. For once, Marinette felt happy again to be out there, she had her partner back. When she saw him, she gave him a soft look, making Chat blush a little. But seeing how competitive they are with each other, he suddenly kissed her, making Marinette blush herself.

"Good evening M'Lady," he smiled proudly.

"You dumb cat..." she sighed as she laughed a little too,"I would love to spend more time relaxing with you but we have a certain someone to look for."

"Yes you're right, but after we're done I'm taking you on a date."

"I would love that but let's focus kitty, c'mon let's move."

          Both of them swung through the streets of Paris trying to find their potential Volpina. After checking at her house and  several hours of roaming in the city, they were still clueless. They started to lose patience and decided to head back. Marinette insisted to keep her new boyfriend company until he was at his house. And it was probably the greatest choice she could have done, at least for the safety of Paris. When they kissed goodbye, she had to make a little detour and saw Lila making her way to the Agreste mention. She was ready to strike in case and silently watched their suspect carefully and quietly. The young teen seemed to be waiting for something. Suddenly, a small dark butterfly came out of the mansion and possessed the girl. Lila was just waiting for the akuma.
"What the hell?" thought Ladybug. Like they guessed, Lila became Volpina again, she jumped towards an open window and entered the Agreste household. Ladybug acted quickly and rushed to her partner.
Now that Adrien was scared and woried about Nathalie, Gorilla and his father he became more and more reckless and ran to the office. But when he opened the door, the secret elevator was making it's way down. The two heroes got there just in time to see what was happening. Both of them just stood there, not understanding one thing about the situation.

"Chat Noir, since when do you have a secret lift in your house?"

"I was asking myself the same question..." he answered. A few seconds later, his eyes seemed to slowly fill with sadness and fear,"Bugaboo...Remember when you suggested that my father was Hawkmoth...What...what if you were right...?"

"Chat...That's impossible, we saw your father get akumatized."

"I know but...What if he found a way...I once found a way to fool him that I wasn't Chat Noir...What if he did the same. We're wearing magical jeweleries. It wouldn't be impossible..."

"I...I don't know what to say..."

"You don't have to...Let's go. We need to clear this out."

Marinette felt startled by his reaction. She wasn't used to see Chat Noir or Adrien like that, afraid and cold. His attitude could give chills to anyone. Despite her slight fear and worry she followed him, trying to calm her breathing down.
When they didn't hear the mechanical sound of the lift anymore, they decided to press the button and went down to the secret lair. When they arrived, they were completely stunned by the view. It wasn't usual to see a green and beautiful garden under a house. While Ladybug was admiring her surroundings, forgetting for a moment what she was supposed to do, Adrien didn't. Instead he starred strongly with shock at a glass coffin. She was there, laying still with her eyes close like she was sleeping peacefully. Righg after that Marinette snapped back to reality she saw Chat, looking lost and on the verge of crying. She kept calling out his name but he never answered. Instead he slowly made his way towards the glass coffin as he stumbled and slowly started to run faster and faster until he reached the unsual bed.

"Mom...?" he whispered with a trembling voice.

Ladybug was right behind him and looked at him, "Chat? What is your mother doing here?"

"I-I-I don't know...I-I need to get her out of there..."

"Wait Chat no! This coffin could be keeping her alive. We don't what's going on," she tried to hold him back as he struggled to release her grip.

"No! I need to get out of this pl-"

"Dodge!"

Adrien didn't have time to think. He only felt his girlfriend push him on the side and rolled on the ground. When he looked up he saw the purple suited man standing with Volpina by his side.

"Do. not. touch. her." growled the grown man with pure rage.

"What are you doing  to her?!" barked Chat Noir.

"Isn't it obvious, I'm trying to save her."

Adrien marked a long pause. He finally cracked Hawkmoth's motive. He wanted to save his wife, Adrien's mom...Ladybug also understood. Their doubts were all gone now.

"Chat...We still need to defeat him...I know it's ha-"

"It's fine. Let's do it," he answered quickly, trying to keep the burning tears to himself.

The two heroes exchanged once last determined glance and ran towards their enemies as they were swinging their magical weapons, ready for battle.
