2 weeks later.
Georgiana’s P.O.V
I looked into the floor length mirror and tried to calm my nerves.
Two weeks had passed since the battle on Olympus but looking at all of us you would have thought it was more like two years ago. We’d buried Zeke only three days ago and Zoe refused to attend the service.
She stood behind me now, fiddling with the train on my dress and babbling about how stunning I looked, acting like nothing had happened but every now and again you’d catch a glimpse of sadness in her eyes.
I still hadn’t processed that I’d be married in less than an hour and be Mrs Clark.
“G?” Lissa called from the other side of the room. I looked over at her and managed a thin, nervous smile.
“Yeah?”
“Stop it.” She smiled and came over to me, handing me my bouquet. “Take a deep breath and just stop over thinking.”
I smiled properly and sniffed the flowers, closing my eyes and letting their scents calm me down. I looked back up at my family and sighed. They all looked so utterly stunning, they were surely going to out-do me. I caught Lissa glowering at me and swiftly pushed that thought to the back of my mind. Lissa was my maid of honour, Zoe and Sarah were my bridesmaids and little Zara was my flower girl and she looked so adorable. She sat in the chair at the dresser, swinging her little legs and playing with a rose petal, humming to herself.
I reached behind me and grabbed my camera, snapping a quick shot of her and grinned. Now Apollo can’t really have a fit at me for not taking pictures of his favourite little girl.
“Excuse me, girls.” Zeus called through the door. “You’re all needed downstairs now.”
Zoe, Lissa and Sarah squealed and gave me a group hug before picking Zara up and leaving the room. My father entered and grinned at me, looking utterly over joyed.
“You look stunning, Georgie.” He muttered, kissing my cheek. “You ready?”
“Never.” I chuckled, taking his arm and allowing him to escort me down to the hallway outside the throne room. Alex and I had decided last minute to get married in the Olympians throne room because we thought it’d help everyone feel more comfortable with the place, and because I adored Olympus so much.
“I’m so proud of you, Georgiana.” Zeus said quietly, looking at his feet. “Your mother would be too if she were here.”
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat and looked down at my feet too. I wasn’t great for doing heart felt speeches, even when I’d known someone for a long time.
“May I just cut in?”
Both of us jumped about a foot when Hades’ voice cut through the air. He still looked upset from losing Zeke but he tried to hide it.
Zeus recovered first. “Of course.”
Hades nodded and came towards me, sighing. “What if I said I could make it so your mother could be here, just for the ceremony?”
I stared at him with my mouth hanging open, looking so very attractive. “Y-you could do that?”
He nodded at me, smiling softly. I have to tell you, Hades smiling was a weird sight…
“Why would you do that?” I muttered, biting my lip.
“Georgiana, you’re my niece. Your mother meant the world to my brother and I’m here to tell you she was a brilliant woman.” He took a deep breath. “And I can also tell you her spirit won’t leave me alone if I don’t let her see you get married.”
I felt my father chuckle beside me and raised an eyebrow at him.
“Sorry.” He laughed. “I truly believe Hades when he says that Angela won’t leave him alone. She was just like that when she wanted something enough.”
I smiled and looked up at Hades again. “I’d like that, Uncle Hades.”
“Ew.” He said, wrinkling his nose at me. “I don’t like the idea of being called Uncle so just keep to the Hades, kid.”
“Sure thing, Uncle Hades.” I smirked at him, pushing my luck. He snorted and closed his eyes for a second.
Then she was there. Beside him, clear as day. My mother stood there and smiled at me. I felt my eyes well up as I took her in. She was slightly transparent and drifted around a little on the spot. But apart from that you’d think she was a real person and you wouldn’t look twice if you saw her in the street. She wore a simple blue gown and her vivid red hair hung around her shoulders.
“Shhh, don’t cry, Georgie.” She cooed, her voice echoed and sounded far away. I blinked away the tears and smiled. “You look beautiful, my little girl.” She smiled at me and came a little closer to me.
“Hey Mum…” I sniffled, trying not to sound like a baby but it was hard. The music started to play and I knew I only had a few seconds before the doors would be opened.
“Go on, baby girl. I’ll be there right up until you say ‘I do.’” She smiled, gesturing towards the doors. I nodded silently and turned towards my father, smiling more when I saw the look on his face.
He looked twenty years younger while he looked at her with a smile on his lips. I watched out of the corner of my eyes as he mouthed “I love you” to her. He turned towards me and took hold of my arm again. The doors opened and we walked down the aisle far too slowly.
Alex looked divine, as per usual, and his smile when he saw me made my heart speed up a notch. Behind him sat Aphrodite and once again I got the urge to poke her in the eye for being so beautiful but I smiled back at her anyway.
The ceremony was beautiful and we said our vows that we’d written ourselves, earning some giggles from the audience at points. Alex doubled over laughing when I retold the story of me trying to kick him out of my room after he’d told me that I was a demi-God and he made me cry when he told me how beautiful he thought I was, even if I was “a bit stubborn” and occasionally “a little moody.”
All through it all I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face and I felt my mother’s presence from the back of the room right up until my first kiss as Mrs Clark.
The reception took place in the throne room half an hour later and the atmosphere was electric. I’d never been hugged by so many people in my life, even Hades hugged me!
After a while of hugging and laughing with friends Poseidon got up onto the stage the Muses had set up and stole the mic.
“Okay everyone, although these two don’t know it the new Mr & Mrs Clark are now going to have their first dance.” He called out and laughed at the look of horror on my face as Alex pulled me onto the stage.
He pulled me close to him and started to move around in a circle as “Just a Kiss” by Lady Antebellum played from somewhere in the room. I sighed and rested my head against him chest, ignoring everyone that cheered and the flashed of cameras going off everywhere.
“So, Mrs Clark” I smiled as Alex used my new name. “How do you feel.”
I looked up at him and smiled. “Just perfect.”
He grinned and lifted me bridal style and pressed his sweet lips to mine. My head spun and I knew I was in the right place, no matter how much I may have hated him when I first met him. From off in the distance I heard a voice shout “I win!” across the hall and then my father’s booming laughter.
“Fair play, Aphrodite.”
I paid no further attention to them and carried on letting myself go weak in Alex’s warm embrace. I didn’t need anything else in the world as long as I had him to kiss me goodnight.
Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I've been waiting for my whole life
So baby I'm alright, with just a kiss goodnight
