No one’s P.O.V
As the night wind blew gently across a lush garden, a cracking noise could be heard in the distance, gradually growing closer and closer. The hum of wildlife that usually filled the night air stopped and seemed to shy away from the oncoming noise, holding its breath as several deformed figures made their way across the garden, stamping down on proud flowers. The air around them vibrated with an unknown energy that affected everything around them. The tree’s seemed to cry endless tears and the new frost settling upon the ground grew thicker, turning slight puddles into solid ice. They advanced upon an old building that seemed to carry the weight of a thousand years upon its back and had ivy climbing up its sides, clinging to the cracks in the old white paint.
Inside, a young girl stirred from her dreams, disturbed at the images that flashed across her eyelids. She rose from her bed, careful not to disturb her sleeping companion, and stepped out onto the balcony. Around her she held a thin blanket that shimmered grey in the moonlight and blew gently in the wind. Through this the deformed figures could see the frantic beating of her heart and see her body shiver with the fear her nightmare had caused her. Her fear gave them more power, allowing them to taste a fraction of the power their master would gain from her and use to destroy the seemingly happy world this girl was so carefully wrapped up in.
They approached her with a new found stealth, their cracking bones rendered silent by their goal to capture the girl. They needed her for their new master, he’d told them to find her and bring her to him but not that they needed to be gentle with her. They crossed over the garden, using their natural ability to blend in with their surroundings to sneak up upon the girl. They scaled the buildings high walls and poised themselves over the balcony, ready to drop down like spiders upon her and take away their prize.
The girl felt the air shift around her and pulled her blanket closer to her tiny form as her vivid red hair flew around her face. Her blue eyes scanned the darkness for any sign of what had made her feel so uneasy but fell short of an explanation, she muttered to herself and the air around her calmed, letting her hair settle back around her delicate face. She breathed easily for a second or two, breathing in the calm feeling coming from the night’s moon and smiled serenely. From above her the figures pounced, smothering her cries for help and dragging her away from her home. She put up a fight worthy of the Demi-God she was, calling upon the wind her help shake the figures from her and calling the lightning of the sky to strike down the figures surrounding her but it was all in vain. The figures managed to stay through the winds and their numbers were so great that her lightning barely dented their ocean of power.
They quickly dragged her out of sight of her home, ignoring the battering wind, and began to crack their bones in an eerie kind of song, making the girl shiver with disgust. She sent up a silent prayer to her father, hoping it would be heard at such a late hour and sobbed to herself quietly. Above her, the sky remained silent; no sign to let her know her father had heard her prayer.
The creatures dragged her across the ground for what seemed like hours, pulling her through rocks and thorns, puddles and bushes not caring that she ended up covered in blood and scratches. Not bothered that she cried out every time dirt entered her wounds and made them sting. Their song seemed to hold a mocking quality that cut through the air and into the girl’s heart. She felt hopeless. She was hopeless.
Eventually the bone figures came to a stop, releasing the girl at their master’s feet. Their master gave them a withering look and opened the ground at his feet, forcing the figures to vanish into the ground before he closed it again. He looked down at the girl for a few seconds, triumph dancing in his dark blue eyes, before lowering himself to kneel beside her. He took hold of her face and tried to make her look at him. When she resisted he calmly slapped her around the face and tried again, succeeding. He let his eyes sweep over her features calmly, taking in that her eyes were still firmly fixed upon the dirt below them.
“You see all of this, Georgiana? This will be the downfall of your precious happy family. The ending of the Olympian’s ruling over all of us Demi-Gods.” He chuckled to himself. “You’ll be by my side for all of it, Georgiana. You’ll witness it all. I’ll let you live through it all so that you can understand the pain of not being accepted into a family, you can watch me be happy like I’ve watched you be happy and you can suffer for it. Perhaps one day, we’ll grow closer together and you can help me rule the new world.” He took a deep breath and lightly kissed her forehead, holding her tightly as she tried to lean away. “Oh, Georgiana, You’re the main component for my plan.” He said to her, stroking her wet, bloody cheek. “You have no idea just how important you are and that’s what makes you so special.”
Georgiana raised her head a fraction so that she could look the creatures master in the eyes. “Fuck you, Zeke.”
