Meggy stared out the window, looking at the sunset as it slowly passed by. Time was slower than usual. She wished it went faster.
Her pencil barely moved, the paper half filled, and half empty.
Meggy looked at her sleeping teammates, whimpering silently. They wouldn't understand...
They didn't have to deal with their girlfriend being hundreds of miles away in her own city. They didn't have to spend everyday by the mailbox waiting for her letter.
They didn't have to spend days not hearing her gorgeous voice.
They didn't have to bear the longing of wanting to see her play those games up on stage..
Meggy sighed heavily, getting off of her seat and setting her pencil down. She walks over to the window, lifting it open and sitting on the desk, sticking her head outside the window.
She stared at the stars, imagining Tari viewing back at her from them. She was likely doing a competition, so she probably was too busy to actually do so.
She sighs silently, looking up into the scattered clouds, finding a shimmering star far beyond. Meggy grabbed a powdered substance from the table beside her, blowing it into the sky. Hopefully, this would blow all the way to Tari.
Meggy watched it slowly fall to the ground. She sighed silently to herself.
Meggy got off the sill, walking to her bed and laying down. She curls up under the blankets, trying to sleep the rest of the night away.
As she drifted away, a dream began.
Meggy kept sleeping, as her dream flashed her whole possible future in her face.
Meggy proposing, them getting married, having little hybrids, raising them to be good Meta Runners and Splatfest teammates, and then growing old together, watching each other age...
Meggy woke up in a coldsweat, her face starting to blush.
She looked at the window, throwing the blankets off of herself.
She jumps out from the room and into the great outdoors. She had no care for who or what saw her ditching.

Back in the room, Kenji groggily woke up from his rest, seeing Meggy not in the room.
He woke up Sam, asking if he had seen her.
Kenji looks in the hallway, when Sam calls him to the window.
There they saw Meggy running.
"...Guess she just can't stay without that cyborg lady..." Sam chuckles.
"C'mon, she deserves a break. We'll find another teammate for now..." Kenji whispers, nudging Sam away from the window.

Many hours later and Meggy was on a train, traveling to Silica City, Tari's homeland.
The ride was long and tedious. Small bathrooms and no food or water but..
In the end.
She saw it. All the bright lights, tall buildings, gaming shops...there it was...
Silica City...
She would finally see her girlfriend again..
When Meggy got off, she immediately began running again. Running until her boneless legs gave out....right by an arena. An active one.
Meggy mustered up silent hidden strength to get up and walk inside, skipping past the store and straight inside the arena.
There she saw Tari gaming heavily in front of a crowd. She was about to beat a record.
Meggy got closer, watching her play, cheering her on in her head.
Suddenly, cheering got louder.
Meggy looked up at the screen and saw Tari had beat it.
She made a new high score.
Meggy cheers loudly, rushing up and hugging Tari tightly, knocking them both to the ground.
Most of the audience went silent, a few gasping.
Tari looked down at the familiar inkling. "Meggy...? MEGGY!" She squeals and hugs her tightly. "How are you here!? You have a Splatfest game to do!"
"The game can wait...I just watched the love of my life beat the city record.." Meggy smiles gently.
Tari leans in slowly and kisses Meggy gently, holding their bodies close together.

Neither cared who was watching them. Inklings, humans, other Runners, Tari's boss, it didn't matter.
All that mattered was the sweet sweet taste of each other's embrace...
