The Phoenix Beys

✔Chapter 9

The battle continued between Ryuga and Kyoya as Ryuga seemed to now have the upperhand despite Kyoya's strong start.

Soon enough, an explosion went off between the two Beys and everyone shielded their eyes from the debris. When the dust cleared, Kyoya lay on the ground unconcious and his Bey lay at his feet unmoving.

"Kyoya!" Gingka called out.

"Buddy!" Benkei also called out to the Leone user.

There was no response from the boy as his Bey landed by his feet and a smug Ryuga caught his own Bey.

Kogame felt a surge of worry come over her as both she and Benkei ran to the Leone user's side.

"Kyoya!" Benkei called out to him as he cradled him in his arms. "Speak to me, Kyoya!"

"Come on, Hot Shot, wake up." Kogame spoke as she lightly shook his shoulder, her concern for his wellbeing lightly shining through in her voice.

"Unbelieveable." Madoka said. "Leone's power had increased so much but still lost."

"Ryuga!" Gingka called out to the L-Drago user.

"What's up? You want to be next, Gingka?" Ryuga responded.

"Listen to me, Ryuga. I didn't come here to fight you." Gingka began.

"My L-Drago Destructor freaks you out, is that it? Huh?" Ryuga asked.

"That's not true. But now is not the time to have a battle with you." Gingka said.

"We are desperately in need of the power that you possess, understand?" Yuki stepped in. "Please, lend us your strength."

This seemed to catch Ryuga's attention and Tsunami also seemed a little interested as she gave the bespectacled boy a curious look.

"Even as we now speak, somewhere on this earth there are evil people. People who are attempting to use the new Star Fragment to awaken the God of Destruction, Nemesis." Yuki explained.

"Did you say Star Fragment?" Ryuga asked.

"Yes, Sir." Yuki replied.

"The Star Fragment split into into ten pieces and scattered across the globe, as if it feared its power falling into the hands of evil, in order to intrust that power to the Legendary Bladers who will fight the villains intending to bring about Nemesis' revival." Lillian continued for him.

"Ryuga, you've been chosen as one of those Bladers." Gingka informed him. "That is why a piece of the Star Fragment came to you."

"It was that power that transformed L-Drago." Scarlett added.

Ryuga seemed shocked by this and Tsunami blinked in surprise herself as she looked up at him.

"The power of a Star Fragment did this to L-Drago?" Ryuga said.

"That's right." Lillian said.

"That is the mark of a Legendary Blader, for sure." Yuki said. "I beg of you, please join us to fight those who would use the Fragment for evil."

Ryuga was silent and Tsunami glanced between him and the others as he stared down at his Bey in thought.

"Ryuga." Gingka said.

"Ryuga, please." Yuki pleaded.

Ryuga briefly shared a glance with Tsunami, who gave him a curious expression, before he started laughing.

"What gives?" Gingka asked in confusion.

"What a story, Pal." Ryuga said once he'd finished laughing. "The thing that transformed my L-Drago was my very own power. Who would believe that Fragment nonsense?"
