The Phoenix Beys

✔Chapter 13

"So awesome!" Gingka exclaimed.

"What incredible scenery." Lillian said as she looked around in awe.

The group were currently on a boat as they made their way across one of China's beautiful lakes to the site for the tag team tournament.

"We're thrilled to share China's beauty with you." Mei Mei said.

"However, this is no time to be staring at the scenery." Chao Xin told them.

"We're nearly at the site of the tournament." Hua informed them.

"All the way out here?" Scarlett asked.

"Isn't this kind of out of the way? You know, like, Mars?" Benkei asked.

"We're here. Look there." Chi Yun said as he pointed ahead of them.

There were buildings made for spectators in the middle of the lake surrounding a great big Bey stadium. It was called the Yellow River stadium.

Fans cheered for Wang Hu Zhong as the boat passed by the stands to its destination.

"Everyone's getting pumped, huh?" Gingka observed.

"That's because this is the first big tournament in a long time." Da Xian explained from where he stood towards the front of the boat, his arm gently wrapped around Hua's waist as she leaned into his side for comfort.

Hua's not a big fan of water. There was an incident when she was little that resulted in her almost drowning and, ever since then, she's always felt a little hydrophobic. She got better over the years, but still doesn't feel very comfortable around or on water.

"Everyone is expecting that this time Chi Yun and the others in Wang Hu Zhong will defeat you, Gingka." Chi Yun said. "We intend to see they go home happy."

"That's tough tofu. Sorry, but the ones claiming victory will be us." Gingka said. "Right, Scarlett?"

"For sure!" Scarlett replied. "We'll be the ones coming out on top, no doubt about it."

"When it comes to a tag team, Kyoya and I are the strongest." Benkei said. "There's no way we'll lose to a tag team like yours."

"Is that right?" Gingka challenged.

"You seem to be forgetting about us and that's a big mistake." Mei Mei interjected. 

"I have to meet the expectations of my loyal fans, you know." Chao Xin said.

Mei Mei seemed to deadpan at that whilst Chao Xin winked and waved at the girls in the crowd who all cheered him on.

"Chi Yun's team will win this thing." Chi Yun said.

The four teams argued a little as to who was going to win, until Madoka stepped in and told them all to settle down as she reminded them that they weren't just here to win the tournament.

"Madoka's right." Gingka said. "Let's remember to keep our eyes open for signs of the Legendary Blader that we've been searching for here in China."

"Who could it be?" Yuki pondered.

The group looked over at the crowds as they tried to visually assess whether or not the Legendary Blader was there. Mei Mei asked Chao Xin if the Blader he saw was in the crowd, but he told her it was hard to say since the Blader's head was covered with a dark hood.

The Commentator explained the rules of the tournament and, not long after, the first Bey battle began.

Da Xian and Chi Yun were up first and the crowd was extremely supportive as they cheered on the two members from China's number one team. They defeated their opponents with ease and they were allowed to move on to the next round. Up next was Benkei and Kyoya and they too quickly defeated their opponents.

Then came Johannes and his weird cat-girl partner, Moti. They went up against a champion team from Hong Kong, who Johannes managed to defeat via stadium out.

The next battle was Chao Xin and Mei Mei vs Gingka and Scarlett. The crowd cheered loudly for the two Wang Hu Zhong members whilst they booed Gingka and Scarlett. The duo did a good job at ignoring it though as they focused on the battle they were about to enter. 

The battle began and Mei Mei and Chao Xin showed impressive team work as they seemed to have the upperhand at first and nearly threw both Pegasus and Autix out of the stadium. However, Gingka and Scarlett seemed to find their rhythm as the tables soon turned and they used their combined strength to win the match.

"There goes one Beylin Temple team anyway." Bao said from where he, Aguma and a cloaked figure were watching the battle.

"Oh well, Bao. We will just have to enjoy it from afar, this time." Aguma responded.

The cloaked figure turned her hazel eyes to glance over at the two males to the left of her before turning back to the finished battle.

The second round of the tag team battles took place in a totally new location and, soon enough, the first battle began. 

Gingka and Scarlett were up first this time and they defeated their opponents easily. Da Xian and Chi Yun went next and their battle also ended quickly with a victory for them. 

A group of cloaked figures along with Bao, Aguma and the mysterious cloaked girl were standing towards the top of the stairway as Mei Mei cheered for her teammates, telling them they were going to prove that Beylin Temple was the strongest.

" 'The strongest' she says." Bao said. "The word strongest exists only for us, understand."

The hazel eyed figure beside him glanced up at him as she noticed he was a little annoyed by Mei Mei's words and gently held his hand for a moment. Bao looked down at the slightly shorter girl as he felt her hand touch his and gave a small smile of thanks as he relaxed a little at the comforting gesture.

The next battle was Kyoya and Benkei vs Johannes and Moti. The battle soon began and Kyoya told Benkei to let him battle Johannes.

Kyoya, at first, attacked recklessly as Johannes cleverly used his Bey's height to dodge Leone's attacks. However, Kyoya quickly realised that tactic wasn't working and the battle was suddenly brought to a standstill. Things stayed like that for a bit until Johannes sent his Beat Lynx to attack Fang Leone, only to find his attacks did nothing to deplete Leone's power.

Benkei, not liking feeling useless in the battle, sent his Bey after Moti's, since neither one of their Beys were doing anything in this battle. Moti tried to use her cute looks to sway him from battling her, but the two of them soon simultaneously landed outside the stadium, which earned them an earful from their angry partners who had told them to stay out of it.

That left the battle in a tie so the battle between the Beat Lynx and Fang Leone users continued and was soon won by Kyoya as he used a new Special Move to throw Beat Lynx out of the stadium.

The next battle was Bao and Aguma vs two other Bladers.

"Good luck." The cloaked female with Bao and Aguma spoke softly as the two began to walk into the stadium.

They stopped walking momentarily as they glanced back at her.

"It won't be needed, but thanks anyway. Yuya." Bao spoke confidently as Aguma sent her a small smile in thanks as he too appreciated the usually quiet girl's words.

Yuya nodded in understanding, as she knew how strong they were, and the two continued making their way into the stadium.

Their battle began and, with a crimson flash, the battle was soon won by Bao and Aguma.

Team Wang Hu Zhong and Hua all seemed to recognised their stance and Bao and Aguma soon revealed they were from Beylin Fist, an exiled group of Bladers from Beylin Temple hellbent on getting their revenge on them by beating each and every one of their members and proving that Beylin Fist is the strongest.
