Do you know how it feels like to be stabbed in the back?
Do you understand how that fücking feels like?
It is one of the most unbearable feelings people are forced to experience at some point of their lives. We humans are susceptible to the notion of trust and faith that, when we place it on others, we often fail to see the consequences that arise from it.
But do you know what's even worse than being stabbed in the back?
It's being stabbed in the back by a friend.
A friend you'd want to grow old with.
A friend that you'd sacrifice blood for.
A friend that you would give up every ounce of your trust and faith for for years.
That feeling? That feeling of betrayal? It was beyond anything you could possibly imagine. It made your stomach contort. It made your eyelids grow heavy. It made your limbs become numb. All as if the life force from you had been drained.
Yet, you still managed to muster enough strength to pay - at this point - your only trusted companion a visit. The task itself wasn't as elementary as you'd think though. With the recent change of course, the Ambassadors were all ansty and impatient as if Lex had lit fireworks under their ass. Barely anyone fell asleep.
Most of them grieved for the deceased leader.
Some were groggy from learning of Buchanan's betrayal.
A few others however, were primed with a look of vengeance, waiting patiently for the orders of their new ruler to take down their greatest opponent - The Avengers.

But you knew your powers would start glitching if you messed with it. So you told yourself that that was a future-you problem.
Hence, you decided to depart at the witching hour.

He had cheek buried into the warm and cushioning pillow with his arms beneath it. His lips, which were almost always knitted into a frown, seemed at rest. When you approached him, you could see that his eyes darted from side to side beneath his lids. A low whispery snore escaped him, leaving you to stifle your giggle.
You remained there for a moment, crouched down by his bedside, absorbing every ounce of detail the serene being was willing to give.
You wished he could stay like this forever.
Peaceful and content with his life.
You thought you could give him that by recruiting him into the Ambassadors but you merely put his life in danger.
Succumbing to your desires, you traced a gentle digit from his forehead to his jaw. Cupping his face, you watched as the thumb you drew across his cheek made his muscles twitch. The man fluttered his lids open and, just as predicted, sat up abruptly. "(Y/n) . . . what are you-"
