You heard the hollers and cheers as the fourteen members of your crew strolled down the pathway the crowd had created. You loved the crude scent of the area: the mutton, the grime and the unsullied sweat it all added up to the scent of home. Rahul, who was clearly bashed and scraped by shards of glass, seemed to enjoy swinging the hockey bag onto his shoulder while pumping his fist into the air. For once, he seemed to be getting a satisfying reaction from the crowd. You'd walked down this same aisle every single time you'd had a quest. It wasn't that adrenaline feeling you had the first few times the Ambassadors had come to be.
Those days were lit.
"Holy cow," Goro muttered, pacing backward before your crew as he covered his mouth. "Holy cow, holy cow! Take the loot to the tent, don't just stand there!" He commanded to the stray adolescents on the edge of the crowd. They directly jolted from their spots and got to work. "You all— you are insane! That's amazing what you did out there!" The young man cackled, bluntly in disbelief, "All of you get changed, get some rest, tonight we'll kill it in the fire."
Wild grins broke upon all your faces and instantly you all broke to your separate directions, to your own tents. Your body was throbbing, raw from driving the teenagers from midnight onward to the warehouse. You could feel your eyes beseeching to shut close before your circadian rhythm is utterly disrupted.
Staggering down the dirt pathways, the vibrancy of the prison orange tents dulled with the sun peering from the clouded and large window panels bordered along the warehouse. The chains rattled against the woods of the training grounds. Eventually, you found your way to your tent, which was identical all the others, but it was specifically placed closest to the back end of the warehouse. That's where the seniors of the organization stayed.
Once you were inside, you went ahead to change out of the black uniform, glaring at the mirror that was mocking your absent presence. You rolled your eyes and rummaged through your ragged and wrecked baggage. Once you found your needle and the quarter filled tube, you cleared your wooden table and spaced out the items. After what seemed like several eager minutes, you finally injected the drug into your arm, its precious magic working as it always had.
You gawked towards the very mirror, a smile crossing your face when you saw your figure in it.
You threw your head back, running your fingers over your face, the dear touch of your skin and being still accessible. You came to stare at the walls of the tent, strangely astounded of how well your own collection had begun to evolve over the months. The news prints were bolded with the uprising of your family.
You felt the warmth of a person's breath on your shoulder while meaty hands caressed your waist, "You look like you climbed out of a grave."
You smirked smugly, "Well anything for you, bub." You could feel the vibration of Mason's chuckling ripple through you. When he loosened his grasp on your waist, you turned around, feeling his presence too close for comfort. You pressed your back against the table behind you, "Can I make the assumption you have something for me?"
"Most definitely," The young man whisked the black locks from his eyes, his boyish grin playing on his lips as he swung the newspaper in your face, tempting you. You plunged your hand at it in which he immediately hid the paper behind his back, "Uh uh, I hope you have something for me as well?"
You could feel your stomach clench but you had to force that seductive look to your face, "Later tonight, I promise."
"Not exactly." Mason objected, his emerald orbs making it clear he was in charge of matters, "You see, we have a ton of time on my plates and I know you'll be too drunk to even look me in the eye after the fire." And it was true, no one could bullshît that. "So why not make this fair for us both and go at it now?"
