Everybody loves the things you do
From the way you talk
To the way you move...
Everybody here is watching you
'Cause you feel like home
You're like a dream come true"Ugh, shut the fück up!" You growled, snatching the guitar from the love-struck teen. "Take your dying walrus noises outside to the stray cats!"
"Jesus! Okay okay! Don't have to be so tied up." Omra wheezed, cautiously retrieving her instrument from your deadly clutch.
Once the girl was out of sight, you softened your glare. You sat back on the worn couch, resting your head between your propped hands. Big Daddy was sitting on the other side of the fire, clearly indulging in the attention he was getting. Surrounded by his fans, the soldier was too oblivious to have noticed the spark of genuine admiration in your eyes. Maybe it was the fire casting serene shadows over his sharp features. Or maybe it was the sweetness filling his tone as he spoke to the teenagers. Or maybe it was the grin that was finally breaking over his stone-cold face. Whatever it was, god, it was driving you insane. It's been a few weeks since he started coming to the warehouse but he surprisingly found comfort in a lot of people. And a lot of people started to fall for him.
Like yourself.
And you liked it better if he didn't know.
You didn't want to admit it either.
Besides, you clearly knew that if you liked something, it never stays for too long.
So you're probably better off just admitting it was a small puppy love of some sort. Or just a desire to get into his pants. Whatever the case may be, distance is your ally.
"Your friend seems a little lame from the way you say it," Ethan chirped. You finally clued a little into the conversation.
"He sure as hêll isn't too lame now, is he?" Bucky responded, involuntarily sharpening a branch.
"Well, of course, he isn't lame now!" Another girl retorted. "He's got a shîtload of powers to keep punks from speaking. But you can't even lie! He's a little short of swag back in the day, right?"
The Winter Soldier had a flicker of hesitation on his face, "Yeah, I guess. He was literally a short little turd too." He chuckled to himself. "You know? Now that I remember, there was that one time we were on a double date. Funny, while he was off in his own little world, both the ladies were clinging onto me like I had the Devil's charm."
You do, sweet cheeks. You thought to yourself, smirking.
"You do!" Goro burst out in hysteric chuckles, stealing your words. "I thought they all were lying when they said Captain American's sidekick was the ladies' man."
The man's face lit up with an embarrassed grin as the crowd surrounding him rumbled in laughter. You beamed into your palm, your cheeks aching from how much you've smiled through the night. When you raised your gaze again, he was looking at you. His orbs were tender and unyielding, deep in a world of thought.
Your heart skipped a beat. It was almost as though the universe had slowed for a moment. Even the sparks of the flame danced in your vision before the floated into the infinite skies. Both your vibrant and cheerful faces were displaced by a tranquilizing daze.
It was almost as though you were thinking the same thing.
After what seemed like hours, but merely seconds, your cockish smirk returned to its native habitat. You combed strands of hair out of your face and slyly perched to your feet. You felt his eyes loom upon your figure as you curved around the couch towards the tents.
