Hey guys, I'm "back". You know the drill...
Jon woke up to a very sharp pain in his back. Someone was massaging his left bicep and someone else was holding his right hand. He squeezed the hand firmly before opening his eyes. There was Damian holding his hand, face bloodied up and hair a mess. Jon had to admit that he looked dashing like this.
He looked to his left to see that Alfred was the one massaging his arm. Both pairs of eyes lit up upon seeing Jon awake.
"Jon! You're okay!" Damian said. He had only the faintest smile on his face but his eyes gave away that he had been concerned. That, and the fact that he was holding his hand. Damian dropped it quickly.
"Yeah," Jon said. "All I remember is the building we were in collapsing on us. Are you okay?"
"Master Damian is fine, Mister Kent," Alfred said warmly. "And you will be too, soon." He stood up from his chair next to the bed Jon was lying in. It was only then that Jon realized that his chest had been rapped. He put a hand to it.
"Thank you so much, Alfred," he said. "We would be nothing without you."
"Well that certainly has some levels of truth to it," Alfred said. He headed towards the door. "I'll leave you two boys alone now. I'm sure you have a few things to patch up." With that, he walked out and closed the door behind him, leaving both boys red in the face.
Damian looked very uncomfortable in his seat. Jon waited patiently for him to say what he was obviously trying to get out. After years of spending time with him, Jon had learned that patience was always the best when dealing with him.
"Jon... I want to say sorry for not reaching out to you all this time. I was blinded by my pride and I-"
"Damian..."
"No! I've felt horrible this entire time because of how selfish I acted back then."
"What? No, I overreacted. I regret leaving the way I did every day! I never stopped loving you, Damian!" Jon covered his mouth; he hadn't meant to say that. Well, he did, but not that blatantly.
"... Neither did I."
The boys stared at each other in the eye. Then they both grabbed each other for a hug, smiling big. Damian suddenly let go only to give Jon a kiss. He pulled away quickly, but Jon just pulled him back for a kiss of his own. It was warm and hard, something they'd clearly both been hungry for for a while. Jon put his hand on Damian's cheek and Damian put his hand in Jon's head of hair. Jon didn't know how he'd survived without this for a whole year.
There was a knock at the door, obviously Alfred. The boys quickly let go of each other and got back into their places. Alfred opened the door and looked surprised. It was only then that Jon realized how untidy they now looked compared to when Alfred left. It looked like Damian had noticed too. Their faces both grew warm and Alfred smiled.
"Glad to see you figured everything out," he said. "Now get back out there and on that case, gentlemen. Crime doesn't wait for anything in Gotham City."
