Saving The Heart

Part Two : Chapter Three

The two boys flew to school, Damian on Jon's back. They were silent as they whipped through the air, each with a different thought on their minds.

Jon was thinking about how Saving the Heart has impacted his life since last year. Damian and him were closer than ever now, and things were over all more comfortable. How had Aubrey's stupid fanfiction done so much to his life?

Damian was thinking about how the two had agreed to dial things down a bit. Even though Damian was fourteen and probably old enough to do some things, Jon was only eleven, and in the spark of reading Saving the Heart, the boys had done some things should they shouldn't have. They agreed to just do kisses on the cheek until Jon was at least thirteen, but that seemed so far away.

The boys approached their school and flew behind it. It was still about an hour before school stated, but teachers could still be in the building, so they avoided being seen. Jon landed in the grass and Damian climbed off. "Thanks," Damian said, staring right at Jon.

"Of course," Jon replied, staring right back. They stood there staring for a moment. This had been happening a lot lately. Damian took a step forward, and then stopped. No, he would just have to wait. He looked away and turned for the school.

"I'll catch up with you later." And with that, he ran towards the school entrance and went inside.

Jon just stood there, a frown on his face. He began to walk to his own class as his brain flooded with thoughts. During STH, the things he had read about and teased about had seemed so good. But now Jon was scared. Deep kisses, sex; he wasn't ready for that! But Damian seemed like he wanted to do those things. Was he making Damian upset? Was Damian getting bored with him?

"Class dismissed."

Jon looked up from his desk. Did I just zone out the entire class? Jon uneasily packed up his stuff and left his classroom. His friend Kathy came up to him. "Hey are feeling alright?" she asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." Jon gave her a smile. "Just a little tired from the farm."

Kathy gave him an unsure look. "Okay, whatever you say. Hey, are you ready for Mr. Holt's te-"

Just then the ground started to shake. Jon and Kathy looked at each other with fearful expressions. Then the school alarm went off, and students started running all around trying to get to their classrooms and out of the building. "THERE IS A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE. PLEASE EVACUATE THE BUILDING. I REPEAT, PLEASE EVACUATE THE BUILDING." The announcement only made things worse, and soon Kathy was whipped away from Jon with the crowd. Jon was about to run after her when there was a huge crash from the other side of the building. Part of the building had just collapsed. Jon ran in the opposite direction of Kathy and started to rip off his clothes to reveal his Superboy uniform underneath. The rest of the students had gone now, but there was a chance people could be stuck in the collapsed building. He had to save them.
