I just got back from a three week sleep away camp (literally on a bus home as I right this) and I'm already updating this story. I didn't think it would get so popular, but I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. Thanks for reading!
Jon was woken up by loud knocking in his window at 3:00 am. He knew who it was before he even opened his eyes. "Damian, just come in!" Damian opened and climbed through the window as Jon rubbed his eyes awake, blinking several times to get his eyes to concentrate on the boy in front of him. Damian was wearing his school uniform already.
"Morning," Damian said as he stood next to Jon's bed.
"Why are you here so early?"
"I thought we could do some training before school starts."
Jon stood up and frowned. "All you do is train."
"False. I spend a good ten percent of my time thinking of new ways to insult Dick and annoy my father." Jon shook his head at Damian.
"You're horrible," he said with a smirk. "I'll get dressed." Damian looked away as Jon started to change, throwing his pajamas to the floor in exchange for his uniform. "I'm done, let's go."
As Damian opened up the window again, Jon stared at him. However attracted an eleven year old could feel towards someone, that's how attracted Jon was to Damian. The two left Jon's house and began to make their way across the city. "Where are we going?" Jon asked.
"Just follow me."
Jon nodded and followed Damian to the heart of Metropolis, somewhere he didn't expect Damian to take him. They stopped in front of a strip of small shops, specifically in front of one.
"A coffee shop?" Jon asked, raising his eyebrows at Damian.
"Yeah, I lied." Damian smirked at Jon. "We're not training." He took Jon's hand and started to lead him to the door. The lights were out inside.
"Damian," Jon said, "I don't think it's open. It's only 3:27."
"It's fine, I know someone." Damian opened the door and stepped inside, dragging Jon in with him. Now that Jon thought about it, this place looked familiar.
"Damian, why are we here?" Jon whispered.
"What?" Damian pulled Jon close to him. "Are you scared?"
Jon's face heated up and he pushed Damian away. "Bug off."
Damian laughed. "Aubrey, we're here!"
Jon whipped his head towards Damian. "Aubrey?"
Just then a girl with brown skin and dark, curly hair came from behind the counter. "Hey Jon!"
"Wait," Jon said, squinting at the girl. "Aubrey as in author of Saving the Heart Aubrey!?"
Aubrey nodded with a smile. "I heard you liked it," she said hopefully. Jon looked down and tried to hide his blush. Damian wasn't helping.
"Aww, isn't he cute?"
Aubrey walked up to Jon. "Jon don't worry, I'll keep your identities and the story a secret."
"YOU TOLD HER OUR IDENTITIES!?" Jon shouted at Damian in realization.
"Chill out," Damian said angrily. "Aubrey's cool."
"She better be."
