The door to Mount Justice opened with a loud noise. Damian and his brothers stepped inside to the secret building within the mountain. Superheroes were everywhere. Of course, Damian had been inside tons of times; his father was Batman after all. He and his brothers made their way through the main room, looking for their partners and friends.
Damian suddenly felt a pair of eyes on him. He turned subtly and said Jon standing with his dad and the older Superboy on the far end of the room. They locked eyes for a second before they both turned away. "Hey, your ex is over there," Jason said pointing obviously. "Wanna go say hi?"
"Shut up, Jason," Damian said and put his hood up.
"Oh," Dick piped up, "B said he wants to see you in Private Room 1," he said to Damian.
"Great," Damian replied and left his annoying brothers to go meet his father.
He entered the room and saw his father sitting like a rock. There was a table between them, and he sat down in the chair directly across from his father. "Hello, Batman," he said.
"Hello Robin." His voice was flat and grim, as always. "I've called you here privately for a special mission."
Damian got slightly excited; the past year had been very unexciting for him and he'd become kind of glum. "What is it?"
"There's a criminal hiding in the south side of Gotham. They've been known on the League for destruction of property and multiple murders. They may not seem like the biggest threat but have intel on the Justice League that must not be leaked."
"I'm on it, Father." Damian got up from his chair. "Send me the info."
"Wait," Bruce stopped him.
"Yes?"
"You'll be working with Superboy."
"What?"
Bruce stood up and walked around the table to where Damian was. He leaned on the side of the table and folded his arms. It was weird seeing him so casual. "I understand you two haven't spoken in a while-"
"We're not on speaking terms."
"-but this is a requirement. The League needs you two; you're valuable together."
"But Father-"
"Work it out." With that Batman got up and walked out of the room. "End of discussion."
Damian just stood there in the room. This was absolutely ridiculous. When he read that note from Jon he had promised himself that he would stay away and not let it affect him. Now he would have to go up him and ask to work together again? He walked out of the room and saw Jon standing nearby. Their eyes locked again. Damian took a deep breath.
Here goes everything he'd been avoiding for the past year.
