"I'm hUUUUnnnggrrrYYYYY," the giant man complained. A human woman dangled from his fingers. Her name was Rosemary.
"Put me down, you oaf," Rosemary grumbled, "I'm not food."
He begrudgingly put her down and quickly scooped up a bellowing sheep instead. He tried to plop it into his mouth before she yelled at him.
"HEY! NO, SIR. BAD GIANT. PUT IT BACK, RUFUS!" she snarled.
"But I'm hUUUnnnggrrYY," Rufus moaned, "And ye always have somethin' fer me t'eat."
"Yes, and you already came by this week to get your something." she informed him pointedly.
"But I'm hungry again," he pouted.
"That's too bad. Put the sheep back." she ordered.
He fixed her with a challenging glare, but she held his gaze levelly. He relented, avoiding her stern gaze as he put the sheep back. She was the only human in the whole village who would stand up to the giant. More importantly, she was the only human in the whole world who could get him to obey.
"The other humans will give me food," he muttered bitterly, rising from his spot on the ground.
"Do not go bother those poor people!" she snapped, "They work brutally hard to provide for their families, and it's not fair for you to scare them into giving up their hard work...especially since we both know you could easily get more food by hunting, but you're just too lazy to do so!"
"I'll just eat ye!" he hissed defiantly.
"Do it," she challenged.
He angrily mumbled to himself before his gaze softened, "Can ye at least come huntin' wit' me?" In that moment, he looked more like a lonely child than a man-eating beast.
"Of course, big guy." Rosemary smiled. "I just need to finish up with a few things. Do you mind herding the animals into their designated enclosure."
"On it." He eagerly plopped back down, causing the ground to rumble underneath her feet.
Rosemary just silently chuckled. "Thanks, big guy. Keep in mind that I'll know if you ate one."
