"Cupid!" the giant called, knocking on the roof of the human house.
A human child popped outside. "Are you Mr. Perry?" she asked.
"Yeah. You must be Cupid's kid, eh? Your name's like Rachel or something." Perry said, "Is your mom home?"
"Nope. She went to the grocery store." she informed him.
"Do you know when she'll get back?" he asked.
She shook her head.
"Did you nod or shake your head? You're too tiny." He wrapped a hand around and deposited her on an open palm.
She was screaming.
"Calm down, shortie. I'm not going to hurt you. You're Cupid's morsel."
"What?" she whimpered.
"That means you belong to a very good friend of mine, and if I hurt you, she'd kill me," he elaborated, "And I value my life enough to not hurt you."
"So you're not mean?" she asked.
"Uh...sure, kid. I'm not mean." He scratched the back of his head. "So do you know when your mom will be home?"
She shook her head. "No."
"Damn."
"Why?" she inquired.
"Why what?" he questioned.
"Why do you need her?" she asked.
"Because I need to go on a run with her," he said, "Do you know what your mom does for work?"
She nodded. "She hunts down mean giants."
He laughed. "Yeah, something like that. I hunt down 'mean' humans myself. But it's a lot easier for a giant to find a giant and a human to find a human, so we work together." he informed her, "I need you to tell your mom to call me when she gets home, so I can come pick her up."
"Can I come?" she asked hopefully.
He snorted. "No. We're going after a giant. He would crush you if he got a hold of you."
"But you're not crushing me," she protested.
"Because you're Cupid's kid, and I'm not a mean giant," he huffed, "I might eat you though."
Her eyes widened. "What?"
"Relax, kid. You're cute. I wouldn't eat you." he assured her, brushing her backside with a finger.
"Hmpth," she pouted.
"You act all pouty just like your mom," he commented dryly.
"Me and my mom aren't 'pouty'!" she cried.
"Oh, you're very pouty. You're still pouting." he pointed out.
She frowned. "You're a mean giant."
He smirked. "You outta get your mom to hunt me down then."
