"I'm not food!" the young girl protested.

Looking down upon the teeny creature on his counter, the giant merely snorted. He quite clearly remembered the day when the king stood upon his doorstep and begged him to spare her life. A neighboring kingdom had seized his kingdom, and the king knew he and his heirs would be executed to finalize the opposing kingdom's takeover. He wished to die honorably alongside his kingdom, but he did not wish the same upon his daughter. The giant reluctantly accepted the bundle after the once seemingly prideful king got down to his knees and begged.

"Pfft. I could eat you in one bite, morsel," he said pointedly.

"Stop calling me a morsel!" she snapped.

He plucked her up between two fingers, carefully pinching her at the waist. She flailed and smacked at his fingers bitterly, but it was all in vain.

He smirked. "We can settle this agreement pretty easily, and I can prove that you're both food and a morsel."

"I'm a giant. You can't eat me. That's cannibalism." she huffed.

He had once explained to her that she was a human princess, but she was pretty set on being a normal giant. At this point, he didn't have the heart to tell her otherwise.

"Cannibalism or not. I can still eat you." he teased.

"Well I don't want to be eaten," she said.

"I didn't ask you."

"Olcodddd," she whined.

He knew that pout. He could tease her for a bit, but once she started pouting he knew to ease up on her. She was still pretty young after all, so she got flustered easily. It didn't help that she was struggling with an identity crisis where she wanted to be a giant like him but was trapped in a small, human body.

"Lorelaiiii," Olcod countered, depositing her into an open palm, "Even if you are food, I love you too much to eat you."

Lorelai frowned. "You're mean."

"I know." He grinned. "I'm sorry."

"Good," she grumbled, "I love you even if you are a jerk."

He laughed.

"You have to say it back," she insisted.

"Say what?" he questioned.

"I love you."

"I already said it," he huffed incredulously.

"I wanna hear it again," she pressed.

He sighed, pulling his palm close to his chest as he wrapped his other hand around her. "You know I love you, Lorelai. I love you very much."

He looked down at the small mass leaning against his chest. Her face lit up with glee. He took on a more meaningful look as he thought about what could've happened to that pretty face if he hadn't had taken her in. The world could've lost a wonderful being just because she was meant to be a princess. He quickly changed his mind. She wasn't meant to be a princess. She was a princess.

His next words would be lost on her, but meant everything to him. "You're my princess."
