Amy's pov

I hate keeping Abbie from going to school, but I need to keep her safe. I tried to sneak out of the treehouse early this morning, but the cops were looking in the woods for us.

"Amy, why are they still looking for us?"

"Because they think that we have something to with the group mom and dad used to work in."

"Why would we know?"

"I don't know honey, but they should be leaving soon. Why don't you work on some spelling words and when you are done they should be gone."

"I don't like school work."

"I know, but right now you need to work on them."

She got some paper and a pen and worked on her words from the book.

I looked outside and saw no one.

"I am going to make sure it is okay to go out. Stay here." I gave her a kiss on the top of her head then climbed down the ladder.

"Boo," Mark said as he put his hands on my waist helping me down.

"What the hell is going on?" I asked looking at him.

"Hell, someone has been tracking me and they know that I have not been telling the truth."

"How do I know it is not you?"

"I know that it doesn't look good for me, but I promise you that I am not a rat or a mole."

"I want to trust you," I said low.

"You can, I brought breakfast." He held up a bag.

"You better not be messing with us. Mess with my confused heart is one thing, but Abbie keeps asking about you. I swear Mark, if you or Tyler are playing with us. And you hurt Abbie, mentally, emotionally, or physically. There will be more than just hell that you guys will pay. Remember whose daughter I am." I glared at him.

"I promise you that I am not lying. I don't want to ever hurt you or Abbie. Tyler is not going to either. We are a team."

I closed my eyes then asked. "Got any coffee?"

"No, but next time I will get you some."

"It's all good, as long as Abbie is taken care of." I opened my eyes looking around.

"Nice treehouse." He said looking up.

"Thanks, dad built it. There is a bunch more everywhere. This is our hideout while they are looking for us."

"Smart."

"Wait, how did you know that this is where we are?"

"I have been out here since late last night, Abbie had to go to the bathroom and she snuck out coming down here."

"The only thing this place doesn't have is a bathroom. I hate that she has to go out there. I will talk to her about sneaking out."

"No one was even close to her if that makes you feel better."

"Not really, since you saw her, who else did?"

"I was the only one out here."

"You don't know that, just because you didn't see them, doesn't mean that they didn't see you."

"Everyone was sleeping. I was too but I don't follow rules."

"So don't others."

"I promise you that you two are safe."
