Abbie's pov

When I woke up, I was still on Miss. Hannah's couch.

"How did you sleep?" Amy asked. She was sitting on the floor next to me.

"Okay, is he going to find us here?" I looked around the room acting scared.

"No, he is never going to come after you again. You are safe here." Amy pulled me off of the couch, onto her lap.

"He is scary." I hid in her.

"Oh, Abbie." Miss. Hannah said as her footsteps got closer to us, "You are safe here. I promise."

I looked up at her and gave her a fake smile.

"Why don't we show you two where you will be staying." Miss. Hannah said.

"That sounds lovely." Amy said.

Amy stood up with me in her arms. I held onto my stuffy that Amy got me as we traveled out of the office.

"This shelter here is home to many children and women just like you, trying to stay alive." Miss. Hannah said, "Some are hiding from men and others women."

I looked around as best as I could. We passed a living room area that had a couple kids playing video games.

"All games are donated." Miss. Hannah said.

"What about clothes?" Amy asked. "I have some cash that I can give you for new clothes for Abbie."

"Clothes and health and beauty products are part of the grant that we get, there will be clothes delivered to your room once everyone is awake."

"Does everyone have a job here to help keep it running?"

"No, we have paid staff who will do that. This place is to help you heal and start fresh. We know that it will take some time so we will not rush you."

"How much is rent? And food?"

"Amy, please relax. All of that is covered, we will even get school material for Abbie."

"Thank you."

"Are there any boys allowed here?" I asked, looking at everyone being a female.

"We take everyone in, but at the moment we just have females. Oh, there are a few kids who are males."

"What about her?" I pointed to a lady who looked like a male.

"That is Julietta, she has been here for about a year."

I looked at Amy puzzled.

"I will answer all your questions later." She said and kissed the top of my head as we kept walking.

"This here will be your room, everyone gets a little apartment." Miss. Hannah said as she gave Amy a key.

"Thank you again. Oh, um, I hope it is okay but a couple of my friends might be coming here to find me. They have been helping us get away from him and they are the ones who told me to go here. I hope that is okay."

"Will they need a place to stay?"

"I don't think so, they most likely will just check up on us from time to time."

She didn't look too pleased but she gave us a smile.

Amy unlocked the door and we went into the room.

"Look, we even got a tv." Amy said as she put me on the couch.

"But it's so small!"

"That is, like, a 30 inch!"
