Amy's pov

"You should be sleeping," Mark said.

I rolled over in the bed to see him sitting with a book in his hand using a reading light.

"So should you," I said as I looked at the clock, 3:34 am.

"I am on watch." He held up a cup of coffee then took a sip.

"We can take turns."

"Nope."

"Why are you helping us?" I sat up to face him.

He closed his book using a straw wrapper as a bookmark.

"Have you hurt anyone?" He asked.

"No."

"Besides the food and the t.p. Have you stolen anything?"

"How?" My mouth hit the floor.

"I would do the same thing if I was in your shoes. You gotta save money until you can get a job, and both of you got to eat."

"Is that going on my record?"

"Nah, no one has reported that they caught you."

I looked over at my sleeping sister.

"Have you told her?" He asked quietly.

"No, I don't know how too."

"You might want to soon, or it could get ugly."

"I know, I need to find the right words."

"They will come to you, it just takes time."

"Thanks."

We sat there quietly not looking at each other.

"Amy?" Abbie rubbed her eyes.

"I'm here honey," I said moving some hair from her face.

"I have to go to the bathroom." She sat up and zombie walked to the bathroom.

"Dad taught her that, they would walk around the house acting like zombies," I said smiling.

"It's cute." He said, "but you need to go to sleep."

"Long day of driving ahead of us."

"I will go a different way but I will find you guys again to check up on you."

"What will happen if you don't find me again? Like your job-wise?"

"If your worried about me losing my job, I am not going to lose it. I know too much dirt on the big bosses to lose my job."

I gave him a puzzling look.

"Trust me, your safe and Abbie is safe."

"Why are those people after us?" Abbie asked walking out of the bathroom.

"Did you wash your hands?" I asked her.

"Maybe, maybe not." She giggled.

"Abbie."

"Amy."

"Go wash your hands."

"Tell me why those people are after us then I will go wash them."

"Wash first."

"I asked the question first." She crossed her arms across her chest.

I closed my eyes taking a huge sigh.

"You get on my nerves at times," I said opening my eyes.

"I know." She giggled again. "Now spill."
