Abbie's pov

Amy is protecting me from what I already know. Big scary men broke into our house, but mom and dad protected us and now we have to meet them someplace. Amy thinks I don't understand that we are on the run from scary people but I get it. That's why I am staying out of her way. She is so stressed out.

I grabbed my school books and started working on them. It's all easy stuff for me.

"Are you hungry?" Amy asked playing with my hair.

"Nah."

I'm starving, but we need to save our money.

"You need to eat, you barely touched your breakfast."

I'm saving it for lunch.

"I'll eat after I am done with my school work. Where is mom and dad?"

"We will be meeting them, just not for a while. But it's going to be okay. We got each other."

"I still have to show mom my painting! It's in the treehouse."

"She will love it!"

Amy kissed the top of my head then walked to the bed. The hotel room is small but we will be leaving tomorrow, Amy has been mapping out a path for us to take. She said we need to make a quick pit stop before we head into the road.

"Amy, I'm bored."

"Schoolwork normally is boring." She laughed,

"I know all of this stuff."

"That is because you are extremely smart."

I finished a couple more pages of the workbook then picked at my oatmeal. Amy was glued to the map-making sure she knew how to go to the next place.

"Amy, can we go to the zoo? I wanna see animals!"

"I know you do but the closest one is nowhere near here. Maybe on our travels, if we get close enough we can go."

"Yay!"

After I was done eating I played with a few toys that I had.

"Do you want to go out and play in the parking lot?" Amy asked,

"Yay!"

She grabbed my bubbles as I got my shoes on, we went out and she blew the bubbles as I popped them. We both were giggling and laughing.

"Oh no, looks like I need to get some more." She held up the empty bubble bottle. "I'll go make more, you stay here."

I nodded my head then sat on the ground.

"Hello, what is your name?" A male said walking up to me.

"My sister told me to never talk to strangers."

"I'm not a stranger, I am a friend of your dad's. He sent me here to get you guys!"

"yay! I miss them! I can't wait for Amy to come out. We can go home!"

"Little girl, get in your room." I looked at the voice and saw the cop from the other day. "Go to Amy."

I got up and ran to Amy.

"What's wrong?" She asked grabbing me;

"One of daddy's friend is here to take us home, but that cop told me to go into the room."

Her face lost all color.

"Get under the bed, now!" She pushed me under the bed as she ran to close and lock the door.
