Honeymoon Day 1:Arriving at the hotel towards late afternoon, Mikaeel looked over at his wife to see if she was impressed with his choice or if she seemed familiar with the place, knowing now that she had 'gone places' before marriage.
"I haven't been here before, it looks like a place out of a dream." Diya spoke, unaware that her husband was waiting for a response like that from her.
"Oh then, that's a relief, I thought I brought you to a place you're already familiar with." Mikaeel smiled as he motioned for her to walk into the reception area with him.
The clerk behind the desk was friendly from the word go and also offered his assistance to the couple if ever they should need it while on their stay at the Grandeur Hotel.
"Aarif Hansa is the name." he smiled when Mikaeel held his hand out to him in gratitude.
Diya was already walking around the foyer, taking in every detail of the place she hoped would bring her the best memories.
The huge Golden hued chandelier was already glowing in the cool air-conditioned interior, the carpet was soft and plush and immaculately cleaned, the gentle tapping of water from the displayed fountain sending a calming effect across the space. Heaven! Diya breathed it all in and a shiver ran through her when Mikaeel's warm breath touched her cheek from the side of her niqaab.
"Like what you see." he observed.
"Love what I see." Diya's eyes were on him as she spoke and Mikaeel found himself getting heated at the neck. Did she intentionally do that? He had no way of knowing. Either way, she and the atmosphere was getting to his head.
The room they were booked in was on the highest level of the immaculate building and the view from the top was amazing. Mikaeel saw the excitement in his wife's eyes long before she voiced it when the porter had left.
"Wow!" she exclaimed. "Did you come here before?" she looked through the huge window to find the entire city lit up.
"No, it's the first time I've ever seen such splendor. I would never have dreamed that something like this ever existed had I not taken Humaira's word for it." Mikaeel admitted as he took his place beside her.
"Humaira?" Diya asked, unable to put a face to the name.
"Oh Humaira, my secretary... Did I not mention her before?" Mikaeel went on to explain the relationship he had with Humaira when Diya gave him a blank look.
"Oh, no you didn't mention her before..." Diya sounded put off even to her own ears but Mikaeel seemed to ignore it.
Room service that night was nothing short of excellent. The food was delicious and the relaxed conversation flowing between husband and wife as they devoured it made for a successful first evening away from home.
Diya was drawn to the beauty of the outside world while Mikaeel lounged against the comfortable couch after reading their Esha salaah...
"Do you think people sleep in this place? The roads are so busy and everything is so lively out there for this part of the night..." Diya turned her gaze toward her husband to find him looking at her with a spark of something deep in his eyes.
Without a word, he stood up and closed the distance between them to look out the window and she thought she had imagined it.
"Hmm, I wonder. Maybe their lifestyle here is different. Seems like even though we never cross countries, we have found something unlike anything we ever imagined our own country to be like." his voice was deeper when he spoke and Diya put it down as tiredness. Men always sounded dreamy when they were ready to hit the sack.
"You're tired..." Diya lifted her hand to brush the hair away from his forehead and Mikaeel froze. He stood there staring at the soft and vulnerable woman he had taken into nikah and couldn't help falling in love with her.
"I...guess I am a bit tired. How about you?" he asked softly.
"I... I guess I could doze off if I put my head on a pillow." Diya had no idea that her voice sounded husky because she was too reeled up and very aware that her words were not the truth in its entirety. There was no way she could just 'doze off' if she had a man like Mikaeel beside her. He was going to make her spin dreams with her eyes open.
"Let's give it a try... See who can fall off to sleep the quickest?" he smiled his charming smile.
Diya found herself smiling back at him when he held his hand out to her and pulled her gently toward the huge bed.
