Honeymoon--The following dayMikaeel could hear her moving about the room before Diya could call out his name to wake him for Fajr salaah. He smiled before opening his eyes... Life was being kind to him, he thought as he stretched into wakefulness.
"What are you smiling at? Are the angels playing with you in your dreams?" Diya joked.
Mikaeel laughed heartily before racing into the bathroom to freshen up and make his wudhu. When he got out, he noticed that Diya was waiting for him.
"Want me to lead you in salaah?" he asked dumbly and felt even dumber when she rolled her eyes at him.
"No, I'm just waiting here for the sun to rise." she smiled prettily at him.
"Oh then... The Hoors of Jannah will be awaiting my arrival then... The ones that were the reason for my smile earlier..." he added the last part for good measure and was not at all surprised when his wife playfully smacked him on his arm.
"Not even a few days into our marriage and you're already troubling me." Diya tried to act sad but failed terribly because she was not the best of actresses and that was known by all since primary school days.
"I like it when you get all violent, it kind of makes you look cute and irresistible." Mikaeel froze as soon as his words left his mouth. He had no idea where that had come from but he was intent on blaming it on tiredness.
Diya stared with doe eyes at her husband and wondered if he really did find her irresistible. Wasn't he supposed to be all touchy and romantic if he did? But he didn't touch her in the way she always imagined a husband would... He always drifted to the furthest part of the room she was in when she tried to entice him.
Oh well, marriage isn't always about affection, it has many other interesting aspects to it... Right? Diya couldn't help but feel sad deep within her.
After salaah, the couple had a light breakfast which consisted of tea and rusk which was supplied by the hotel and then they bathed and readied themselves to face their first full day of their honeymoon.
"What would you like to do after the full on breakfast we will be having downstairs at the dining room?" Mikaeel asked as soon as he saw Diya enter the lounge area.
"Anything you want to do... I don't know what type of activities they have around here, or what kind of activities you enjoy..." the softly spoken words made Mikaeel look up at his wife with a tiny frown between his brows.
"Look..." he stood up and went to stand in front of her.
"I told you before... I'm new to all this 'husbandly' duties and things... I don't know what makes you happy, I don't know what to do to make you smile and feel comfortable with me... I need you to guide me. And please... Don't always aim to do as I please, this should be about both of us as a couple. Don't ever make our marriage sound like a business deal because it makes me feel like I'm failing you in some way." the weight of his words fell on her and Diya couldn't help but stare into his question filled eyes.
"For starters... Be a bit more romantic and don't always use tiredness as an excuse to get away from the thing that's going to make us bond on a different level." Diya bit her lip, turned away and scrunched her eyes closed.
Did she really just ask him to.....
Mikaeel felt the heat slide up his neck... Was he really so dumb that he had kept his wife questioning their marriage as soon as it began? Of course she wanted to feel loved, to feel cherished, any woman would want that... Oh how Gafoor would've killed him right then, he thought.
"Diya, I'm... I'm so sorry I made it feel that way. I promise to be the best husband you could've ever dreamed about from this moment on." He put his arms around her abaya clad body and nestled his face in the folds of her hijaab, her own special scent making his senses go into overdrive.
Diya stood still for just a moment before putting her arms around her husband and holding him close. The brush of his thick hair against her cheek made her close her eyes in contentment.
This was definitely a good start to their new beginning, the couple thought as they stood in that position for a long while just basking in their newfound comfort zone.
