Thirteen: A few days later

The exhaustion was finally setting in but the couple was still adamant on making the most of their honeymoon. They trekked the mountains, they indulged in the little cafés and they just strolled through the place hand in hand.

Diya was just beginning to relax and enjoy the time with her husband when an unannounced visitor appeared at their room door. At first, she thought it was just some acquaintance of Mikaeel's but then the other woman was introduced to her as Humaira.

"Oh so you're Humaira?" she blurted out before she could bite her tongue. The other woman was surprised that her boss's wife knew who she was so she raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and questioned what she knew...

"Oh nothing much, just that you're his secretary that told him about this beautiful place." Diya smiled warmly at the model-like beauty while linking her arms in Mikaeel's in a protective manner.

"Is that all? Bad guy Mika..." Humaira pouted prettily before discussing why she was there.

"Since you did book me in the other suite and this is important, I thought to meet with you personally...I hope it's no trouble?" she looked from Mikaeel to Diya in an apologetic way.

"No trouble at all." Mikaeel said smoothly before Diya could say anything at all.

"I will just put up some tea water..." Diya mumbled, walking away, not liking that she was feeling like a third wheel.

What did she know of her husband's business anyway? Nothing, zilch! The other woman was in her element, she spoke confidently and without an ounce of doubt. That was the kind of women that men of Mikaeel's stature found appealing, wasn't it? All the negative thoughts played on Diya's mind as she made the two mugs of tea and handed it to the 'business party'.

"Aren't you joining us?" Mikaeel asked distractedly.

"I think I should just run down and browse through the shops for awhile..." Diya said softly and was not at all surprised when Mikaeel offered her his Gold cheque card and didn't beg for her to stay.

With nothing left to do but leave, she put on her Abaya, hijaab and niqaab and left, Mikaeel not even noticing her because he was so busy on a call at the time. (Or so she thought)

Strolling in and out of shops without making any purchases at all, she checked her time and realized that it was an hour from the time she left the room.

"They should be done by now, wouldn't they?" she breathed out just as her eye caught the Halaal sign on the Mugg and Bean windows.

A nice cup of coffee wouldn't be such a bad idea... She thought to herself before walking towards it.

While she was placing her order with the waiter, a voice sounded just behind her and she turned around in surprise.

"Make that two of the same." the voice said, before taking the seat opposite her.

"Wh... What are you doing here?" Diya asked, unable to keep the excitement from her tone.

"Work can always be caught up with, not time with my wife. It was just a very important close off that needed my attention, but now that it's done we will not be disturbed for the rest of our stay. Now tell me, how was your window shopping?" he asked as he scanned for shopping bags under the table.

Diya told him of the antiques that she came across and that she would like him to see before she bought it as gifts for the family members. The twinkle in her eyes as she spoke made Mikaeel silently thank Allah for sending her in his life. This was exactly what he needed away from work life, he thought as he relaxed in his seat and gave her his full attention.

Diya fell silent when the coffee was placed in front of them and her insecurity took over.

"Humaira isn't married, right?" she asked offhandedly.

Mikaeel's eyes crinkled at the corners when he shook his head in the negative. He could sense his wife's disappointment and disapproval of his meeting with Humaira and he had no idea how to make things right without hurting her more...

"Oh..." Was all Diya said before sipping on the brew in front of her.

"If you know of a good guy, you can organize him for her... I'm sure she is ready to be married off. But enough talk about her and any work related topics... Tell me, are you ready to go back home and start our real life?" Mikaeel leaned over the table to take hold of the dainty hands that were still somewhat covered with the bridal henna.

"I... I am, though I'm scared that I might not do things right and I won't be able to be the kind of wife you deserve." the doubtful tone made her want to kick herself... What happened to the talks she had been giving herself about confidence and insecurity etc?

"Hey, all that is just going to fall right into place. Don't try too hard and you will see... Besides, you are the perfect wife for me and I'm confident about that. You fulfill my life with what it lacks and that's what is important. I am still unsure if I tick all the right boxes of being the perfect husband to you."

The question was there but Diya avoided answering it... Because she was still unsure of how good their marriage was just yet.

And silence filled the air...
