Twelve: Honeymoon Day 2 continues...

The day was something out of this world for Diya, and at the end of it she learned that not only was companionship important, but also that communication was key to a beautiful start to marital relationships.

Mikaeel enjoyed his day as much as his wife, answering her endless amounts of questions in regards to the history of the place they were in and the subtle questions about his personal and work life.

It was as they were getting into bed that Mikaeel sat with his elbow against his pillow and paused for a moment...

"You know, I still don't know much about you...tell me what you think I need to know about you?"

Diya sat at the edge of the bed on her side and thought deeply before moistening her lips...

"You know the basics about me, so... Let's go personal... I love the simple things in life, the minute details about things. I've always loved wearing the niqaab since a young age and Alhumdulillah with Allah's Will and Might it has come to be when I turned 16 years of age. There were many people who tried to discourage me, but I stood strong in my decision and here I am today with my dream realized." she sighed before going on...

"I try to find the best in people rather than look for their faults, but as time went by I learned that not all the people will do the same for me... I was always looked down upon and made fun of by people around my age... I guess it's because they thought that I was 'too holy' for them, little did they know that I also had dreams and desires like any of them..." her eyes shone with unshed tears as the pain pierced her heart even after all the years that past.

"Hey... There's something you need to know about certain people, they will never accept you no matter how good a heart you have or how well you treat them... But you shouldn't change yourself for them... Always be the good person that you are." Mikaeel was suddenly beside her, holding her against him as her sniffles turned to sobs. This was new to him, he didn't do the whole 'comforting thing'.

"Tell me about your dreams and your desires..." he said in a soothing voice.

Diya closed her eyes before she went into a lengthy conversation about all her dreams and desires that she had since she was a child and Mikaeel listened without interruption.

"You know... You are nothing like the man I dreamed I would marry..." she trailed off to find her husband staring at her with a questioning gaze.

"You are even better than I could ever have dreamed about." she smiled widely and literally heard him let out the breath he was holding in.

Diya knew then that Mikaeel was in need of constant reminding that he was loved, that he was not taken for granted and that he could count on someone when the time came.

And that is exactly how all men must feel, she thought later as she lay on the bed with her eyes closed, with sleep evading her.

"You're awake, aren't you?" the deep voice just beside her made a shiver run down her spine. She thought that he was asleep, but it seemed that sleep was evading Mikaeel as well.

"Hmm..." she answered in the darkness.

"Come here..." Mikaeel pulled her in the circle of his arm and guided her cheek to his chest with the other.

Diya sighed in content. This was what was missing, she realized. Touch, closeness, bonding, a sense of belonging.

Mikaeel smiled, feeling powerful now that he sensed his wife relaxing against him. This was what all women craved, he finally felt like he was getting a better understanding of his other half.

And as the night wore on, time ticked by and the indescribable feelings between husband and wife radiated in the cool, dark interior of the room... Mikaeel and Diya found comfort in the arms of the ones they had given their love, body and soul too when they performed their nikah...

Another new beginning to their compatibility for the newly wedded couple...
