Chapter 16

Me and Niall have been dating for a few months now, and things are going great. Now that I don't have Louis, Niall was there for me just like Louis always was. I didn't want to ever replace Louis, but honestly he was being replaced by my boyfriend.

I kind of felt like I was using Niall to get over him, but I knew deep down inside that wasn't all the reason. Truly I did like Niall as my boyfriend and as my best friend.

Today Niall had a meeting with Paul. So I was on my own for a few hours. I decided I would just go around the mall and go shopping for the day.

I got there and it wasn't too crowded, just the amount of people I liked to have around me.

I was in Jack Willis looking around when someone bumped into me, making me drop my phone.

"Oh I'm so sorry!" a oh so, familiar voice said as he put his hand on my shoulder, while I was picking up my phone.

As I looked up I couldn't believe who I saw!

"Maggie?" our eyes met.

"Louis?" It was so awkward and I was almost scared. I haven't talked to him in months and I rarely every see him around.

"Um..S..sorry" I managed to get out, as I picked myself up and started walking away. But his strong arm grabbed a hold of mine, and stopped me from walking any further.

"Maggie, um look..." he cut off taking his arm back to his side, "Can we please talk?" he asked me.

My heart was beating so fast, I was scared and nervous. I didn't want to talk but the words just slipped out of my mouth "Ugh sure" I sighed and followed him out of the store to sit on a bench near a indoor water fountain.

"Look I am so sorry"

"You don't have to apologize" I cut him off. "That's the way you wanted it" I could feel tears forming in my eyes, but I forcingly held them in.

"That's the thing! I didn't want it that way! I.."

Before he was even able to finish, I barged in the middle of his sentence. "Then what way did you want?!" I choked out. "The way where you completely break my heart and leave me?!" Tears started falling down my cheeks.

"Break your heart?! How about my heart?!" Louis asked angrily, looking into my tear filled eyes.

"Why can't you understand I love you as a friend!? And nothing more?" I asked, I couldn't take this anymore, I started running off.

"Maggie! Maggie stop...." Louis was calling, running after me. But I didn't stop I kept running until he caught up and made me sit down with him.

"Look... I'm sorry" he told me bringing me tight in his arms.

I wanted to pull away and start running again, but I couldn't. Being in his arms made me feel safe and somewhat happy again. Of course I was happy with Niall, but I still felt a empty spot in my heart.

"Why? Why did you say it, if you didn't really want it that way?" I asked in between sobs.

"Be..because I was angry at the time." He signed. " I didn't understand what I was loosing, I was loosing my life, my only happiness, with just a couple words I spoke, you were gone. I didn't mean it. I'm so sorry" he told me as he rubbed my back.

"If I was really your life, why didn't you ever come around and talk to me about it?" I asked wiping away my tears.

"Because I knew you wouldn't want me back. I saw how happy you were with Niall, and it killed me being around you guys, seeing the wonderful times and laughs you were sharing. I knew you wouldn't want to take me back sense you had him" he said looking into my eyes. Tears starting running down my cheeks again.

"Louis, I may have Niall, but I could never, not take you back. I may be happy with him, but my heart had a spot full of emptiness where you left" I tried to explain to him. "I was torn, thinking you didn't want me, you didn't ..."

He cut me off "I'm sorry. I am so so sorry, I didn't mean it" he lifted my face so I was looking into his eyes. "Please, will you find room to forgive me and we can go back to the way things were before?"

"Of course I can forgive you Louis" I paused taking time to word what I was going to say, in my mind. "I just don't know how well things are going to go if we go back." He looked at me confused with hurt in his eyes. "You have to understand I am with Niall, and so we won't be getting together. If you promise to.."

Before I could even tell him what I expected he butted into my sentence "I promise. I promise, I will not get in-between you and Niall, it will be hard, but I promise."

He took my hand and I smiled at him with happy tears "I love you! Thank you so much" I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tight.

"I love you too"
