Chapter 26

We got out of the lake, and sat there in each other's arms, freezing in the cold nights air.

Then it came to me, we had built a scrappy little tree house only about twenty feet off the ground. I giggled a little, at how I remembered it looking years ago.

Louis looked at me funny but I only grabbed his hand pulling him behind a few large bushes, to finally reveal our pathetic little tree house.

He looked at me with a smile and dragged me inside the little tree house. It was dark, only the little cracks in the walls letting the moonlight shine in, just enough to see all the spider webs taking over the place.

"Well there has defiantly been nobody in here for years." I said taking a stick and started clearing the spider webs. Louis swept the dirt and leaves away with his shoe and sat down on the flooring, which was made out of a little bit of everything.

I was really surprised the tree house had stayed up over the years, and was now holding both of us.

Louis opened his arms signaling me to come sit down with him. I put down my stick and wrapped my arms around him. I was shaking, my clothes hadn't even dried a tad bit, and I was freezing.

"So tell me about this studio trip Niall and Liam went on." I asked, my teeth chattering.

"Niall is meeting up with Tracy, and Liam came along because Niall begged him to." He told me looking in my eyes.

"Who is Tracy?" I asked, supposing it was some management lady.

He was running his hands through my hair when he pulled away, "Niall didn't tell you?" he asked as he looked me straight in the eyes. Tell me what? I was really confused now.

"Tell me what?" I asked, my eyebrows crunched together as I was really confused.

"That little brat." He said putting his hands in his pockets digging for something, then he pulled out his phone.

"Louis, who is Tracy?" I asked with a stern voice, putting my hand on his phone to get him to answer me.

"Tracy..." he said cutting off and taking a deep breath "is Niall's ex." He sighing, as he looked me straight in the eyes again.

My chin dropped as I was in disgust. "You mean to tell me, Niall lied to me about a studio trip, and is spending a week, a week, with his ex-girlfriend?!" I yelled at him. I was mad, Niall lied to me, and on top of it, he was with his ex for a week!

"I am sorry Maggie, I thought you knew." He said taking my hand, but I flung it out from under his as I got up from the floor and started pacing back and forth, under the small ceiling.

"Why did he go to see her?" I asked as I was trying to figure everything out.

"I am not for sure." He said quietly.

I couldn't believe this Niall was...cheating on me! I thought he said he loved me. He was going off for another girl again. Maybe that girl he kissed in the park, maybe that silly little story was just something he made up. I gave him a second chance and he blew it. He is not getting another.

I was filled with furry, but I was starting to break down into tears. Again..again, he was doing it again, breaking my heart. These boys had issues with doing that.

I started to leave the tree house when Louis grabbed my wrists and pulled me back in. "I'm sorry. I thought you knew." he said trying to get me to stay.

"It isn't your fault Lou. Apparently I am not good enough for him." I said choking back the tears and hugged him.

"Ducky don't cry. He is making a mistake. Anyone as beautiful and sweet as you shouldn't have to go through this. I am here for you through everything." he whispered quietly in my ear, as he rubbed my back.

We sat down and continued to talk about the situation a little more. Till finally Louis changed the subject after a moment of silence.

"I wish we could still come here every day, and live in our own little world just you and I." Louis said as he rubbed circles on my back.

"Me too. No worries, no cares, just two best friends living with no regrets" I said turning my head to him.

He sat up and pulled me into his chest we just laid there thinking, remembering, wishing.

"I know you don't want to hear this, but I like you allot. I don't know what I would do without you." he told me as he avoided eye contact, "Coming out here made me realize that I don't need a relationship to be happy, I just need you, relationship wise, or best friends. I wouldn't be able to live without you." he said looking out the tiny little door way into the forest.

I sat there for a few moment and then moved his face to look at mine. "I wouldn't be able to live without you either. I love you" I told him with a smile.

"I love you more ducky" he said with a huge grin, and for another time tonight we had another kiss, except for this time I was the one leaning in first.

I didn't know why but I felt a little zing of lightning run through my body. It was almost like he was the one all along, but there was still a thick part of me that still wanted Niall.

Louis, after all, had been my best friend for years and I didn't want to ruin that, but there was part of me that was enjoying the kiss.
