We stepped into the living room. The place looked neat. "Did you clean?", I asked. Stoffel looked guilty: "I had to keep myself occupied while you were gone.", he smiled sheepishly. "And you did that by cleaning?", I was quite amused at Stoffel's behaviour. Other men would've gone out and drank all their sorrows away but not Stoffel. "Yes. Would you've preferred me drinking or doing something stupid?", he sat down on the sofa. "No. I love you for not doing that.", I took place next to him, knees pulled to my chest. "Don't say that it's unfair to both of us." Silence followed.
"I did call Anna. I needed to talk to someone.", he looked right at me. I had no right to be mad or anything but when Stoffel said her name my blood ran cold and this feeling of pure hatred flooded my system. I couldn't say anything because I was the one responsible for all of this. "Can you please say something?", he looked me right in the eyes. "Max offered me to stay at his place but I turned it down.", I thought I had to tell him the truth. "But I didn't want to. I just knew I had to.", I admitted. "Why did you turn it down?". "Because it would be unfair. Also I put up some rules for myself. And they include no relationships. Because I am bad at them and nobody deserves that.", I felt like a stupid child saying it out loud. "Are you mad I called Anna?", he put his finger under my chin and turned my head so I had to look at him. "Yes. But I have no right. But whenever you mention her I get so insecure. I blew it and I know it but if I saw you two together... I don't know how I would react." "Lin you are killing me. You said we are better off as friends and then tell me you can't see me with anyone else. Do you want me to be alone?", somehow this took a turn in the wrong direction. "No of course not. I don't know."
He took my hand in his. "We can't do this again. Our friendship won't survive it.", Stoffel said and looked me in the eyes. But without him I felt so alone. What happened next was never anticipated.
I put my hands on his face and kissed him. "I thought you didn't want to...", he said but I kissed him again. I felt ecstatic for a second and then felt the tears pooling in my eyes. I ended the kiss and tried to hide my tears. „I'm not that bad of a kisser, am I?", Stoffel asked trying to diffuse the tension. I had to chuckle. „No.". "But no more kissing missy! I'll love you for eternity so don't worry about being alone. I know you feel like you are loosing me but believe me: I'll be by your side for ever. Even if you eventually date Max or Charles or Lando.", he said an hugged me. "Like I would ever date Lando!", I chuckled. "You may never know. He's actually quite the catch when you think about it. Loving,funny, an F1 driver, your age, idiot. All things that could also describe you.", Stoffel listed Lando's qualities. "Riiiiiight. How about I'll set up a date for the two of you. Since you've obviously given this a lot of thought.", I joked. "See being friends works just perfectly.", he hugged me and I agreed.
It really works quite well. 180 of emotions happening real quick.
"Lin do you wanna order food? I can't be bothered to cook.", Stoff asked me when he came out on the balcony where I was enjoying the last beams of sunlight. "Sure but I have to be finished by 15:00. Lando wants to play iRacing and stream it.", I explained. "Kids.", I heard Stoffel whisper and shook my head. "I'll order Chinese"
The day went by better than I thought. Stoffel and I finally fixed most of our problems, I was back home and I was looking forward to iRacing with Lando. He was really good at it and said he had to teach me. Whatever.

I went online and immediately was greeted by Lando's annoying screaming. „Calm down boyyy!", I said. „Oh hey! Guys Carolin has joined us!", he screamed. I felt my eardrums basically burst by the volume. „Lando I mean it. Calm your tits. My hearing is actually fine and I plan on keeping it this way.", I had to chuckle. Stoffel came into the room with his Laptop. I looked at him quizzically to which he showed me what he was doing or rather watching. He was following Lando's stream. "Lando you need to calm down Stoffel is watching the stream.", I chuckled. "Hi Stoffel. I'm gonna teach our friend here how to properly race because later on Max will join us and he's really good. And we don't want her to look like an idiot.", I saw Lando on Stoffels Laptop and he was looking like a crazy person. "What the hell are you doing Lando? Why is there a bowl of half eaten ramen on your desk and why are you wearing a bucket hat and sunnies ?", he really was worth his money. I could read all the comments on his stream.

"I'm back sorry.", I announced to Lando. "So while you were gone I've chosen a track. I thought Silverstone is the one.", he explained to me and apparently 12000 other people watching this clownery. "Alright milkboi lead the way.", I said and heard Lando chuckle on the other end. "You got a thing coming for you Linny.", I heard his little devil laugh.

"Linny stop swearing!", Lando was laughing hysterically as he was watching my mistake over and over. "I'm sorry. Frick.", I had to laugh at my stupidity. "Hey guys!", Max was in a cheery mood quite different to the on he was in this morning. "Enough chit chat. Let's get to racing!", Lando ordered. "Alright at least let me say hello.", I joked. "Long time no see.", Max conversed. "Extremely.", I chuckled.

We played for like 4 hours. "Boys it's been a pleasure but I have some stuff to do.", I told them. "Why are you leaving us Linny?!?", Lando moaned. "Alright we'll let get to your stuff.", Max said. "See you guys next weekend. Have fun!", I logged out of the game and shut my laptop.
"Stoffel?", I called his name but got no response. So I went looking for him. He was in front of the TV his phone blowing up like crazy. "Hey I called your name.", I plopped down next to him. "Sorry I was somewhere else with my mind.", he apologised. "No worries. What's up with your phone?", I picked it up as it was going crazy. Stoffel never minded me playing with his phone because he trusted me. But I don't think he wanted me to see what was going on right now.

"Lin...", he saw my confused face. "Well that didn't take long did it?", I said in a snappy tone. "And why is Max threatening you?", I felt the anger bubble underneath my skin. "It's not what it looks like. Well kind of. Anna wants to get back together but she wants it for quite some time now. And Max is angry with me. He thinks I forced you to step away from him.", Stoffel explained. Why am I even angry? He was the most honest person I know. Anna was the one I didn't like but who am I to judge. "I have no right to be mad. I just don't like Anna and her moving in so quickly just rubs me the wrong way. Max on the other hand will wish he didn't send that text.", I hugged Stoffel. "Sorry about Anna." "It's not your fault. She could've at least waited a well until she made her move.", I explained how I was feeling. "She really could've. That's why I fell bad asking this. Is it ok if I take her out tomorrow?", he asked sheepishly. I felt a little sting in my heart. "Yes. Just please warn me if you wanna bring her back here. I'll stay with Daniel or so.", and answered truthfully. A little smile appeared on his face. "You are the best!", he kissed my cheek. "Thank you!", I giggled.
