Hudson was sitting on the couch with Presley in his arms.  He said, "Hey pretty girl.  You are the perfect date for daddy tonight.  I'm so glad I get to have a daddy/daughter date with you tonight.  I am not looking forward to going to classes and being away from you."

Greer came out and asked, "Do I look okay?"

"You look great."

"Are you sure that you are okay to take care of her tonight?  I can cancel."

"I don't think so.  Go have fun.  We are going to have a daddy/daughter night.  I get to cuddle with my girl."

"If you are sure..."

"I am sure.  I want you to go out and have a good time."

"Thank you."

"It's co-parenting.  It's what we do.  I'm just glad that you are doing something for yourself and you are happy."

"Thank you."

There was a knock on the door.  Greer kissed Presley's head and said, "Mommy will be home later and it will be you and me for our late night crib party.  I love you, baby girl.  Be good for daddy."

Greer left Hudson holding onto their daughter.  Hudson now knew if he couldn't have her at least he would have the beautiful girl that they created together for the rest of his life.  He hated that life had handed them these cards.  He couldn't help but think that if things hadn't gone so wrong in the past they would be together now taking care of their daughter.

Greer was sitting across from Grant.  She said, "Thank you for dinner."

He smiled, "No problem.  I'm glad you agreed to come out with me tonight.  I know it can't be easy to leave your daughter."

"It is, but I don't want to give up all my chances of being a teenager."

"You definitely have to have some time as a teenager, even if you are a mom."

"That's what Presley's dad keeps telling me, too."

"Then I'm glad we have something in common then."

"Great.  Tell me something about you."

"I have two sisters.  They are my world.  I'm going to be a freshman this year."

"That's great."

"What about you?"

"I'm an only child.  I'm living with my best friend, her family and Presley's father.  My family kicked me out when I got pregnant."

"So your best friend took in you, your baby and her father?"

"Her father is my best friend's brother.  We have  a long history.  It's a mess."

"Oh wow."

"Yeah.  It's pretty crazy."

The two of them continued to talk and get to know each other.

At the end of the night Grant was walking Greer to the door.  He went to kiss her and she said, "I can't do this.  I'm sorry.  I don't want to lead you on.  You are a great guy and I think we could be great friends, but I'm not in the right place for this.  I just had a baby.  I'm still trying to figure myself out."

"I can understand that.  I would like to be friends."

"I think I can handle that.  Grant, I had a great night.  When we start school we will have to make sure that we get together.  You will like Clara and Hudson."

"I look forward to meeting them.  Thanks for the good night."  Greer waved and went in the house.

When Greer walked in she found Hudson asleep on the couch with Presley asleep on his chest.  She smiled and took a picture of them.  She leaned down and look Presley off him.  He sat up quickly with the change of weight on his chest.

Greer told him, "She is fine.  I was going to go feed her.  I think we need a little bonding."

"How was your date?"

"I think we are going to be good friends.  I don't know what I was thinking.  It's too soon.  Presley needs me."

Hudson asked, "Greer, can you sit down for a second?"

Greer sat next to him and made sure that Presley latched on to eat.  She asked, "What is the matter?"

He sighed.  "I can't do this anymore."

"Oh no.  What's wrong?  What did I do?  I'll change.  I just want to make sure that Presley has both of us and the very best."

He grabbed her hand.  "No.  It's nothing like that.  I just can't hide it anymore.  I have feelings for you.  I always have, but I didn't have the guts to tell you.  I can't imagine my life without the two of you.  I know Presley was a surprise, but she is the best surprise I have ever had.  I know I am the worst person but I am doing everything that I can to make sure that that changes.  I am sure you couldn't love someone like me.  I can understand that."

Greer leaned over and took Hudson's lips in a searing kiss.  When they pulled apart Greer looked at him and said, "I've always loved you.  That is never going to change.  It's been a long time coming.  We have the most beautiful baby girl and I can't wait to watch her grow with you.  I know I'm nothing special, but I will do anything that I have to do to make sure that I am enough for you."

"You have and always will be more than enough for me.  I love you.  I can't keep hiding this anymore."

"I love you, too."

"Let me burp our girl.  Then we need to change her, put her in her pajamas and put her in her bassinet.  Maybe we'll have a few hours before she needs our attention again.  If you don't care, I want to hold you.  Maybe kiss you a little, but more than anything I just want to hold you."

Greer smiled.  "I think I can manage that.  What is this?  What are we?"

"I would love nothing more than for you to be my girlfriend.  It doesn't have to go there yet, but at some point I want to tell everyone that the beautiful mother of my daughter is also my girlfriend."

"I don't have a problem with it.  We are doing everything backwards anyway.  Have a baby and be a couple seems to be the right backwards move."

Hudson chuckled.  "That works for me."  The two of them went to put their daughter to bed.

The two of them curled up  in Greer's bed.  Hudson held her to his chest as they watched their daughter sleep.  It was as perfect as things could be at this time.

The two of them fell asleep holding each other.  Greer's door was wide open.  Clara walked by to see them curled up together.  Clara smiled and said, "Finally," as she walked down the hall to her own room.
