It was Presley's first birthday. Hudson and Greer crept out of bed and went into her room. They sat on the floor next to her crib. Hudson wrapped his arms around Greer and said, "I can't believe she is already a year old. It is breaking my heart. Look at how big she is getting already and she is looking just like you. I'm going to be chasing all the boys away."Greer rolled her eyes and said, "Stop it. I know. It's gone so quickly. To think this time last year we were still skirting around each other and being stubborn. Now we get to wake up every morning to each other and our sweet girl."
"She is so sweet to watch sleeping. I hate that we have to wake her up."
"But it's party day. We have to get her up and cleaned up. Then we have to start decorating. We get to celebrate our sweet girl at her sweet party."
"I guess you are right."
Greer rubbed Presley's head and said, "Good morning birthday girl. It's time to wake up. Everyone is going to be here to party for your birthday."
Presley yawned and blinked her eyes a couple of times. She looked up and said, "Mama."
"That's right pretty girl. Come see mama and dada."
Greer picked her up and held her to her chest. She sat on the floor with Hudson. Hudson kissed Presley's head and said, "Happy birthday princess. Daddy loves you so much. I can't believe you made me a daddy a whole year ago. I love you and your mommy so much. I don't know what I would do without you both."
Greer smiled and said, "It was the longest nine months of my life waiting for you to come to us. Then when you came into our lives it was like you were always there. Today we get to celebrate you. We have to put you in your pretty outfit for your party. We have to decorate for your big day. I think we are going to put you in something that isn't so special until closer to time so that there is less of a chance of you getting it dirty."
Hudson chuckled, "Good idea, momma. Before we bathe and dress the princess we better go take her to see her fans. I'm sure mom and Clara are chomping at the bit to get to the birthday girl."
Hudson took Presley from Greer. The two of them walked out with into the living room. Much to their surprise Ethan is the first to get to Presley. He said, "Hey birthday princess. Come see Pop. I have to see you before Arie and Gram get to you."
Presley squealed and said, "Pop! Pop! Pop!" Ethan chuckled and took his girl. Then Clara and Grace came in and started fawning over her.
Greer asked, "Can you keep our girl occupied while we shower and start decorating for her party later this afternoon? Her little daycare friends and some of our friends from school are coming over later."
Grace said, "Give me something to do and I'll take care of it. The cake is set up in the kitchen already."
"It is? Does it look as good as I hoped it would?" Greer walked in the kitchen to check out the cake. Grace already had the table in the corner decorated and ready for the cake.
