Greer and Hudson were having a night out with Clara. They had brought Presley along for the fun. Presley had recently turned ten months old and words were coming to her quickly now. She was now saying "mama," "dada," "gam," "pop" and "Arie." All of them were so excited that she was calling them by name now. They were working hard on getting down the animal sounds and getting her to ask for what she wanted. Her most recent word find was "dog dog" every time they saw a puppy. Hudson was ready to buy her a puppy and melt into a puddle every time he heard her sweet voice say it. Greer talked him down every time.Clara was bouncing Presley on her lap as she giggled. Clara told Greer and Hudson, "My boyfriend is going to be meeting us."
Greer exclaimed, "You have a boyfriend! How did we not know this?"
Clara chuckled, "This sweet thing tends to need a lot of attention. I don't blame her, but I thought it was time for us to get together. You don't mind, do you?"
"No, of course not. Who is he? Do I know him?"
"Umm... About that. You do know him."
At that moment Grant came over to them. Greer said, "Grant?"
Grant said, "Hey Greer."
Greer asked, "Why didn't you tell me that you are dating Grant? I think it is great. I was hoping to set the two of you up, but this little girl got in the way a little bit."
"Oh my goodness. She is gorgeous. How have you been?"
Greer told him, "Grant, this is my husband, Hudson and our daughter, Presley."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm so glad the two of you were able to work things out. You have a beautiful daughter."
Hudson said, "I'm sorry for what happened with you and G last year, but I couldn't be happier to have my girls in my life."
"I lucked out too. I ran into Clara a couple months ago and remembered her from that day at the mall. Things just kind of clicked from there."
Greer smiled and said, "That is great. I'm glad all things worked out for all of us."
Presley was not happy to not be the center of attention. Then she patted Clara on the cheek and said, "Arie!"
Clara laughed and said, "Yes my princess. I'm so sorry we were not giving you the attention you wanted. Can you say hi to Grant?"
Presley waved and said, "Hi G!" She stuck her arms out to him to be held.
Greer and Hudson laughed. Their girl was such a charmer.
Grant said, "Hello pretty girl. It's nice to meet you."
The four adults and the little girl continued to have a nice evening together getting to know Grant better and having some time to just be college kids.
Greer and Hudson had put Presley to bed when they got home. Greer was standing in front of her vanity in their room when Hudson wrapped his arms around her. He asked, "Are you really okay with Grant and Clara dating?"
She turned around in his arms and asked, "Of course. Why?"
"I know you liked the guy."
"Oh baby. No. I thought I did, but it was never anymore than a crush I thought I had, but really I was just trying to put you out of my mind. I couldn't be happier then to be right here with you. I want nothing more than to be with you and our girl for the rest of my life. I have everything I could possibly want in these two rooms."
"I still don't know how I ever got this lucky. I have a beautiful wife, a gorgeous daughter and our lives are finally falling into place."
"This is everything I have ever dreamed of. Our girl is going to be one in two months. It blows my mind that the list year has gone by so quickly. We have our girl and she is growing so quickly. It's just making me so sad that she is getting so big."
"Want another baby?"
Greer laughed. "I most definitely do, but I know we would be pressing our luck if we had a new baby now. Just about another three or four years and then we can start thinking about baby number two and making our girl a big sister. Right now I just want to enjoy our time of being a family of three while we can. Get through college and do everything that we can to make sure that Presley has as normal of a childhood as we can give her while still being kids ourselves."
"She has been the best wake up call I have ever had. She brought you back into my life and she has given my life a purpose that I didn't know I needed. Both of you have."
"We love you. Thank you for being here for me. I don't know what I would do without you. When I found out I was pregnant I was terrified that I was going to be doing all of this alone. Yet here I am living my dream from when I was five years old."
Hudson pulled Greer into a kiss. "I love you, babe. So, what theme are you thinking for Presley's birthday. I know you have to have a Pinterest board for it. Fill me in. We have two months to get it down."
Greer pulled up her Pinterest board and said, "Watermelon? It will be the beginning of the summer."
"Watermelon?"
"Look at how cute this stuff is?"
The two of them looked at the pictures and they decided that it was most definitely going to be the theme for their little girl's first birthday. They couldn't picture a more perfect party for their sweet little girl. They were so happy that they had two months left of classes before they had the summer to celebrate their girl's first birthday and have the summer for the two of them before they started classes all over again.
Greer smiled. "You know me so well."
Hudson held her in his arms. He was so happy to be where he was. He was the luckiest guy in the world.
