It had been two months since Greer and Hudson got married. It was anything but a normal marriage, but they were making it work. They had never felt closer. They were still going to school and working, but they were doing everything they could to support each other. Grace, Ethan or Clara would take on Presley when they needed to study or they thought that the pair could use a moment to breathe for just the two of them.
It was Valentine's Day. Hudson wanted to make sure that things were perfect for Greer. He knew she deserved so much more than he could give her, but he wanted to do something special for her.
Greer came dragging in that night with Presley in her arms and the diaper bag on her shoulder. As soon as Presley saw Hudson she exclaimed, "Dada!"
Hudson took her in his arms and kissed her face making her giggled. He said, "I'm so glad my girls are home. I've missed you today. I hate that I don't get to see you as much as I did last semester."
Greer kissed his cheek and said, "This girl has been asking for her daddy all day. I'm so glad she is going to have some daddy time tonight or else she may just lose her mind. I know you had thought about us going out tonight, but really curling up on the couch in our pajamas and watching a movie with our girl would make for the perfect night."
"What do you want to order in? It's my treat."
Greer chuckled and said, "I'm up for anything. Anything sounds good. I'm just so tired right now."
"Well, how about we do a pizza? Then we change into our pajamas and I can give you a massage. I can see how tense you are from here. I know it's been a difficult couple of weeks."
"That sounds amazing."
"Great. I'll order the pizza. You go change. I'll get Essie changed as soon as I order the food."
"Thank you."
"Anything for you, baby. I love you."
"I love you, too." They shared a kiss and went their separate ways to get everything finished.
Greer was cuddled up to Hudson with Presley in her arms. She looked up at him and said, "I can't get over the fact that this beautiful and special little girl came from us. I don't know what I would do without her now."
"I know what you mean. I just can't believe that I get to spend the rest of my life with you and watch our girl grow with you."
"Yeah. Our future is looking pretty amazing."
"So, when are we going to give this girl a little brother or sister?"
Greer laughed and said, "Hopefully not until we graduate from college and have jobs lined up. I want to have our crap together before we bring another beautiful baby into this crazy world."
"I guess that would make more sense, but I can't wait to have more babies."
"Neither can I."
"How many are you thinking?"
"At least another two or three. I don't know if my body or if we can handle anymore than that in general."
"I would agree. I just hope we have more little girls just like Presley and her momma."
"I want at least one little boy just like his daddy. The girls of the world need a real guy in their lives."
"Hopefully I can show him what not to do. I'm sorry I was such a terrible person in the past. I plan on doing everything that I can to make it up to you for the rest of our lives."
Hudson leaned down and kissed Greer and sleeping Presley. Greer smiled up at him and said, "I love you. You are the best daddy. It is no wonder that Essie's first word was dada. I've got to keep working on her."
"She's going to be talking our ears off soon. I know you are freaking out, but she's going to be catching on to words soon. She's just nine months babe. The words will be coming to her soon."
"I hope so."
"She's going to be a smart little girl. Right now she is just spoiled and knows that we will give her just about anything she wants and she doesn't have to talk to get it."
"I guess you are right. I just worry. She's our first. I don't know anything about this stuff."
"We're in this together. No big deal. We'll figure it out. Now I want to give you your Valentine's Day present."
"You didn't have to get me anything."
"It's from me and Presley. Mommy needed something special for her first Valentine's Day as a mommy. I love spoiling you when I get the chance."
Greer maneuvered Presley in her arms so she could open the box. Greer looked to see a thin silver band with Presley's name on it. Hudson told her, "I saw you looking at them the other day. Then I figured I can get you one for each of the other kids we have and you can stack them since they are so skinny."
"Babe, I love it! I can't wait to add to it in the future. You are the best."
Greer pulled the box that she had for him. He opened it and smiled when he saw a mug with the picture of the three of them from the day that Presley was born. Then on the other side it "The Best Daddy." He smiled and said, "I can't wait to use this every day and show off my girls. Thank you. I love it."
"You're welcome."
"Lets go put our girl in her crib for the night and finish our movie. I need some time alone with my wife."
Greer smiled and told him, "I think I can handle that."
The two of them went to the nursery to put Presley in her crib. They each kissed her good night and went to their room for the rest of the night. They cuddled up together and enjoyed some much needed time for just the two of them on such a special night.
