fastest man -and woman- alive
part one

ANNA DARTED BY a firetruck, her blue and white lightning and dark ponytail flying behind her as she ran alongside Barry, smiles plastered on both their faces as they bolted around cars and down streets to get to their destination as fast as possible to save as many people from the fire as they could.

It had been about a week since Barry and Anna had woken up from their comas and they hadn't done much with their powers since stopping Mardon. Both of them received an emblem from Cisco—Barry's was a red ring with a yellow trim and a gold lightning bolt in the centre and Anna's was a white ring with a blue trim and a blue lightning bolt in the centre. They had gotten better with their speed and were more confident with their powers and both of them had been itching to put their abilities to the test to save lives.

Anna skidded to a stop outside the burning apartment building and looked up at it, her eyebrows furrowing when she noticed that Barry wasn't standing beside her. She turned and watched as his lightning darted down the street, her finger pushing the earpiece in her left ear. "Barry," Anna hummed into the comms system that rested snugly in the ears of the fastest people on the planet.

"Barry," Cisco snapped through the earpieces, his voice muffled by something.

"What? Did I miss it?" Barry asked through the comms.

It's a good thing he's cute, Anna thought to herself with a smile, trying to hold in the laughter that crept up her throat so she wouldn't appear crazy to the people listening to her.

"You overshot by about six blocks," Shannon stated through the comms.

Ever since Shannon saw what Anna could do and learned that her dark-haired friend and Barry Allen saved the city from a nasty tornado, she had been beginning to help out and Cisco finally agreed to having another team member once Shannon asked nicely.

"My bad," Barry muttered.

"Your bad, yeah, I would say it is. Now, get your ass back here before I do all the work and take all the credit," Anna snapped into the earpiece and rested her hands on her hips, watching as a string of yellow-orange lightning bolted past her and into the building. "He went without me! What is this shit?"

"Yeah, Barry, what the hell happened to ladies first?" Shannon questioned over the comms.

"Sorry, too hyped up on adrenaline," Barry said and Anna could hear the smile in his voice. "Anna, you mind coming in to help? It's a bit crazy in here."
