part two

ANNA STOOD OUTSIDE the Prop Warehouse that Barry had told her about and shoved her hands into her pockets, rocking back and forth from one foot to the other to keep warm.

Anna had cried for ten minutes in her father's arms but after that, she wasn't sad enough to show it physically anymore. They talked for another hour after that and Nathan answered whatever question his daughter asked without a hitch and once all the questions were answered, they started talking about their own lives.

Nathan told Anna about his wife called Kathleen and how they met on a case—he was the charming cop and she was the captain's daughter. He told her about Elena and how she reminded him of Anna.

Anna told her father about Shannon and Emily first. Then she moved on to Caitlin, then Cisco, then Joe and left Barry for last. She told him about how she quit her job at Jitters and how she got struck by lightning—but let out the superpowers part, of course. And she even told him about Joel even though she didn't want to bring up the man's name.

"It's nice, you know? Talking to you like this," Nathan said and Anna smiled, nodding her head in agreement as she sipped from her second cup of hot chocolate. "I remember you wanted to be an astronaut when you were younger, what happened there?"

Anna let out a laugh and nodded. "That aspiration when out the window when I was twelve and learned about how astronauts went to the bathroom," she replied and shook her head, running her hand through her hair. "Then I wanted to be a doctor but I figured out how many years you had to be in school for. So now I'm just... going with the flow, I guess."

Nathan nodded and smiled at Anna and she noticed how their eyes crinkled in the same way when their smile was real and big. "Do you remember when you used to run around with a towel wrapped around your neck like a cape claiming you were a superhero? You were so fascinated with the idea of superheroes that you wanted to be one."

Anna chuckled at the thought of what her father had said just before she got the call to meet Barry and Joe. She always said that her dreams didn't come true but they did, really. She wanted to help people and be a superhero when she was a kid, and now she was exactly that.

A car pulled up in front of Anna and she smiled when she saw Joe and Barry in the front seats. She waved and when the car stopped she walked toward the passenger's side, waiting for Barry to climb out.

"Hey, slow poke," Anna teased once Barry got out of the car.

"Hey," Barry said and patted her arm. "How'd everything go with your dad?"
