power outage
part two

WHILE THE MOVIE played, Anna hadn't focused on the tv screen once. She was too lost in her own head trying to figure out how to help Barry before he lost even more hope than he already had. Emily wasn't a science person, Shannon was busy with work and Joel didn't even know about her secret identity yet and she wasn't planning on telling him for a while.

Knowing that she would have to take control of the fights by herself while Barry tried to figure out his powers situation was stressful. She hadn't fought a meta alone before and she was terrified, to say the least. Barry was always there beside her and she always followed his lead—except for an occasional time when she had an idea.

Of course, that wasn't the only reason the brunette wanted to get Barry's powers back. Anna had seen the pain and panic in his eyes when he realized his speed was gone and it broke her heart. The way his eyes had glossed over and the small defeated frown on his face made it hard for her to even look at him.

Barry Allen had become one of Anna's best friends and he was like family now which meant she would do anything to help him be happy again.

"Babe, are you okay?" Joel asked and placed a kiss on Anna's cheek, bringing her back to reality. He gave her thigh a gentle squeeze and then turned his body so he was facing her completely. "You've been zoning in and out the whole time the movie was on. What's bothering you?"

Anna swallowed a lump in her throat and then turned her body to face Joel so she was resting on her knees. "One of my friends got hurt today. He fell down and busted up his knee and now he can't walk right and he's really bummed out about it. So I'm trying to figure out solutions to his problem, you know? Ways to make him feel better so he doesn't get too far down in the dumps," she explained and even though she was lying, she figured that the lie was believable enough. She pressed her lips together and frowned. "I'm sorry, I know this is supposed to be a date but I just can't focus."

Joel nodded and rested his hands on Anna's thighs, sliding himself closer to her. "You can always make it up to me," he whispered and smirked suggestively, his eyes flickering down to the girl's lips as he leaned closer and closer.

Anna cupped Joel's face and smiled, leaning in to close the gap between them. She rested her back down against the couch and gasped when Joel pushed her knees open so he could position himself between them. She kissed him softly and gently and he returned the same kisses for a while, but slowly it got more and more heated.

Joel grabbed Anna's hips, his fingers sliding through a belt loop on either side of her jeans as he leaned further into the kiss.
