grodd lives
part two

AS SOON AS Anna dropped down into the sewer and inhaled slightly, she gagged and leaned over, convinced that she was going to vomit. She stood up straight and pinched her nose, sealing her nostrils away from the horrid smell surrounding her. "It stinks in here," she grumbled and began walking through the sewers, being careful not to step on anything really disgusting.

"You're walking through a sewer, Anna. What the hell did you expect?" Shannon asked, causing Anna to roll her eyes.

"You don't have to be so—" her words were cut short when she heard a loud growl from behind her. She spun around quickly with wide eyes, the shadow of a gorilla dancing across the sewer walls in front of her. "Oh, fuck that," she cursed and bolted in the opposite direction, looking around quickly for her friends.

Grodd growled loudly again and Anna pushed herself harder, tears clouding her vision from the horrid smell she was forcing herself through. She could hear the gorilla's footsteps in the distance and it was making her stomach knot up and made her hands sweaty inside her gloves.

Anna turned a corner and widened her eyes when she saw Cisco, Barry and Joe standing at the end of the tunnel. She bolted toward them even faster and skidded to a stop near Barry, letting out a loud pant as she turned to look back down the tunnel. "I should've stayed back at the lab. I should've stayed back at the lab... I should've stayed at the goddamn lab!" She exclaimed and stomped her foot angrily.

Grodd let out another growl and Cisco stumbled backwards, knocking the yellow helmet from his head and onto the floor at his feet.

Barry stepped forward, raising his arms and pointing a tranquillizer gun down the tunnels. He fired the gun a few times and the growling stopped, causing everyone's eyes to widen.

Anna jumped once Barry started screaming and groaning. "Barry?" She questioned and rested her hand on his back as he bent over and grabbed his head in his hands. Her eyes widened once a large arm flew out of the darkness and swiped at them both, sending them onto the floor together.

"We gotta get out of here!" Joe exclaimed as he shot his gun down the tunnel.

Anna got up to her knees and looked down at Barry, grabbing his face in her hands. "He's unconscious!" She yelled and looked over at Joe, shooting up to her feet once she saw an arm shoot down from the ceiling toward Joe.

But she was too late.

Joe let out a scream as his feet lifted off the ground and he disappeared within the darkness above their heads.
