RECAP:

Clementine and Louis sat at their picnic table in the courtyard having dinner together when Louis faded into a terrifying flashback to the boat and when he had lost his tongue. Eventually, Clementine snaps him out of it and when they finish their dinner, the two make their way to Louis' bedroom where Clementine and him have a serious and emotional conversation. When Clementine gets up to leave, Louis mime-asks her to stay with him that night, to which she obliged.

Clem's POV:

Louis tossed and turned all night. Since I was a light sleeper, he woke me every time he did. Every time he would get rowdy I would shush him and calm him, just like I would do to Aj when he was having nightmares when we still had our car.

The sun was up the next time I heard him. I slowly opened my eyes and saw his body completely sitting up and leaning slightly forward and I heard his snores. He fell asleep sitting up, poor guy. I felt awful.

It was all my fault.

I sat up next to him and slowly lead his head back to his pillow, letting my upper back come in contact with the mattress again. I turned my body to face him, as he tossed a little more before eventually finding a calming spot clinging to my body.

I held him close to me and hummed to him softly, hoping to calm and soothe him back to sleep.

I slept a little more and felt him sit up again, waking me up as I watched his body from where I was laying down.

A few moments after, I begrudgingly sat back up with him but this time his eyes were open, and he looked mortified.

I immediately placed my hand against his back to which he jolted away from before realizing it was just me.

"Hey... what's up?" I whispered softly.

He looked down at me while wiping his tears and tightly hugged me as I hugged him back, rubbing his back.

"Another nightmare?" I asked sorrowfully and he nodded before pushing away and asking for a piece of paper and a pen with his hands.

I scrambled around the room collecting an old piece of already scribbled on paper and an old colored pencil, handing it to him who was now at his desk.

"What if they come back?" He simply wrote.

"They won't, Lou." I swore softly before he turned back to his paper.

"But what if they do?" He asked again.

"Then we're prepared." I shortly replied. "And even if they do, I promise, I won't let them take you again."

Louis nodded, not fully convinced but semi-satisfied.

"Besides, we killed most of Lily's group and blew up her boat."

I took his hands, helping him to his feet and looking into his eyes once again.

"They are not coming back. Never. I promise. And if they do, they will regret it even more than they already do. They lost a bunch of people. I promise, they wont come back." I meaningfully promised him.

"You guys coming?" Violet poked her head into the room before knocking.

"Yeah. We'll be out in a minute." I responded and she shut the door, walking down the hall.

I looked him in the eyes and held out my pinkie. His hooked onto mine.

"Promise." I stated.

He simply nodded his head and sat on his bed.
