"How about we get ready now. It's pretty early but you're shaken up and we're both awake now." she said and rubbed my back.

"Yes." I signed and hugged her tightly.

"Okay, I'll be right back. I'm going to go get backpacks." she said and stood up, leaving the room.

I stood up and looked outside. The sky was dark blue and there were no clouds. Birds were happily chirping as the wind blew leaves around. I leaned on the dresser to get a better view of this beautiful scene.

"Hey Lou, what's up?" I heard a voice ask as the door creeked.

I turned around to see who it was. It was Violet.

"Okay, I know I was an ass yesterday and I don't mean to be like that. It's just how I am. Are you okay? I heard what happened." she said as she walked over to me.

"It's okay. I had another one of those nightmare. Like I used to get about the boat." I signed.

"Was it about the boat again? What happened seriously isn't anyone's fault. Clem tried and so did you but there was nothing nobody could've done." she remarked.

"No, it wasn't about the boat this time. It was about Clem." I replied.

"Oh..." she said.

"Hey Vi." Clem welcomed as she stepped back into the room holding two backpacks.

"Hey. Ready for our trip today?" she asked.

"Yeah. Maybe we can follow the highway I found when I went to look for Louis. We can follow it to an exit and check that." Clem suggested.

"Sure." Vi accepted. "I'll let you two get packed up then."

"Okay. We'll see you in a little while." Clem said before Violet walked out the door, closing it behind her.

"Okay, let's get packed up." Clem stated.

"Do we have to right this minute? Can't it wait?" I asked and pulled her close to me, kissing her neck.

"Louis!" she shouted quickly followed by her sweet laugh.

"Yeah?" I asked, setting her down.

"Yes. We have to pack. When we're done I'm going to wake Aj up and then we're leaving. The highway is far away and I'd like to get to our next spot before tonight so we have some sort of shelter. Now pack up." she firmly commanded.

"Yes ma'am." I signed and took the backpack.

"Try to pack lightly, we never know what we might find too." she said, opening the closet.

I rummaged through my things and didn't find much. I ended up packing my deck of cards, my lighter, my knife, and a flashlight. I couldn't really find many things to pack that was absolutely neccisary.

I tapped Clem on the shoulder and told her I was done packing.

"Okay, I'm almost done. Do you wanna wait for me out in the yard or maybe go ask Violet if she needs help?" she asked.

I grabbed my light backpack and threw it over my shoulder, heading to Violet's room.

I knocked on the door before she shouted that I could come in.

"Help?" I asked her.

"I'm packed already but we should probably take some of the jars that we found from the station so we can eat. I don't know how long we're going to be out there." she stated, grabbing her backpack as we walked out to the courtyard.

I sat down and ate my breakfast as Violet packed food in her bag, then proceeding to sit down with me and eat as well.

I heard Clem's voice and turned around to see a grumpy Aj rubbing his eyes with his small backpack and a slightly agitated Clem following slowly behind him.
