I woke up feeling cold and alone.
I shot up when I realized Clem was gone and immediately pulled on socks and my shoes and found my way down to the courtyard for breakfast, and to find her.
As I stepped foot outside, I saw how gloomy the day was set to be. Dark grey, menacing clouds covered the skies and the only light from the sun was dulled, leaving the earth look like a muted grey color.
As a raindrop hit my nose, I felt someone tapping on my shoulder and then put their whole hand against my arm.
Turning around, Clementine's face appeared, and my heart stopped pumping so damn fast; I could finally relax a little.
"Let's go inside. It's going to storm." She cooed gently.
We walked inside the dormitory and instead of heading to one of our dorms, she turned down the hallway that led to the library.
As soon as I sat down on my piano bench, I heard her close the door behind us. It was pretty early in the morning for the other kids. Everyone stayed up way too late and therefore, slept in way too late, meaning it was going to be a slow, quiet morning, which was something I definitely did not mind.
"I miss when we could barely pry you away from this thing." She solemnly said, grazing her hand against the wood as she sat down next to me.
"Me too." I signed and looked at the keys which were just begging to be played.
I pressed down on three keys, creating a nostalgic sound and soon enough, my fingers led to playing a familiar song, one that Clementine began humming to.
I looked at her with love in my eyes, basically begging her to sing along. I began repeating a verse over and over until she picked it up; I wanted to hear her sing- I bet she had a beautiful voice.
"Sing." I signed with my hands after halting them from playing any more.
I put my hand over hers which was rested on the edge of the piano where the keys stopped.
I reached for the papers sitting on the stand and handed them to her.
"Pick." I signed and smiled at her, she smiled back.
She flipped through the pages until she eyed one out, folding over the page and handing it back to me with a gorgeous glimmer in her eyes.
I looked at the song.
"Say You Won't Let Go. I love that song. Or... loved... I guess. I think it's cute." She sweetly explained.
I placed the music on the stand and played the first few intro notes and looked at her when she was cued to start singing.
"I met you in the dark, you lit me up... you made me feel as though, I was enough... We danced the night away; we drank too much... I held your hair back when you were throwing up..."
Her voice was beautiful. At least to my ears, it was. Nothing like Minnie's was. It was really sweet and welcoming, and it would be a really nice voice to listen to while you're being put to sleep. If only Aj would make her sing from time to time... he would know how great she really was.
"And then you smil-" her voice cracked.
She cleared her voice quickly and her cheeks and ears turned dark red.
"It's okay. Start from the pre-chorus." I smiled.
I started the pre-chorus over again as she restarted as well, still with slight embarrassment in her face.
