Louis' POV
"Yeah, Clem and I need to talk to you." Violet joiced as the three girls walked away to find a place to sit.
"Louis!" Clem yelled, motioning her hand for me to go to them. "Come sit with us!"
I held my hand up saying it was fine and I continued to my room.
As I walked up the wooden steps and turned the cold door handle, I could already feel the tiredness grow in my eyes. I missed sleeping in a bed.
I threw my belongings to the side and flopped on my bed which was not cozy but not as bad as the cold hard floor, snuggling up with the paper thin blanket and the old smelly pillow. I hated this school and everything in it but it was all I knew as my home and all I had as my safe space.
"Louis?" I heard a voice question followed by a light knock at the door.
The door opened and I saw my beautiful darling standing there.
I stood and rushed to her, embracing her tightly and pecked kisses around her neck and cheeks, then I picked her up and swung her around.
"Wow, where did this come from?" she questioned through small, cute giggles.
We sat on the bed after closing the door and started to plan out our week.
"Violet and I talked to Ruby about possibly starting up the greenhouse again so in case we need food, we will have plants in a few months. They want some help and Ruby wants to start tomorrow because we probably shouldnt wait. They told me to talk to you about this since I wanted to go away for the week. So, I can either help them for this week and check in on you in the mornings, during food times, and before we go to bed or we can just head to wherever tomorrow and I can help when we get back if they still need it." Clem affirmed.
"What does Ruby and Vi think? I want them to get work done faster but you want to do the expiriment thing... it's up to you too. I say stay here to help Ruby and Vi if they need it." I responded.
"I'll go talk to them quick then. I'll be back." she chirped and exited the room, closing the door behind her.
I sat down on my bed and thought about this upcoming week. If Clementine chose to stay and help or if we would leave.
There's so much that could happen if we left... so much I wouldn't be able to prevent... so much that could hurt our group or even hurt Clementine. That was my worst fear though... losing Clem. And what if She's lying? She said she's not but she could be lying to me about wanting to stay with-
"Louis? It's Clem." she knocked on the door before she quietly entered, "Ruby and Vi said- what's wrong? Are you okay?"
I nodded my head; I felt scared but I wasn't going to tell her that; I didn't want her to worry about me anymore than she already did.
"Um.. I know that face Louis. Tell me what's wrong." she debated, sitting next to me.
"I'm just... thinking. I'm fine." I grunted, trying to ignore the thoughts.
"Fine. I'll tell you what Ruby and Vi said but then we're talking about this. I know you Louis. I know that your 'thinking' isn't thinking; it's contradicting, feeling guilty." she placed a hand on top of mine. "Vi told me to worry about you first and that they could do the work alone for the week we're going to be gone and Ruby told me that she has the other kids if she needs help. Now, you better tell me what's wrong."
"I'm just thinking. There's nothing to talk about. I'm fine." I pulled away getting teary but refusing to let anything spill from behind my broken eyes.
