Ranveer's Point of View:

I did not even realise when I fell asleep. I was woken up very harshly by one constable.

"woke up you sleepy head!", he shouted at me.

I woke up instantly.

I immediately sat up as he barked,

"why did you not eat?!"

"I am sorry.", I mumbled as I slowly stood up.

"you should be.", he said as he pushed me by my neck towards the gate.

"come on. it's time to go to court and get what you deserve.", he said as I walked out. my hands were instantly handcuffed by him as he pulled me out and made me sit into the police van. I somehow could not understand what was happening in my life.

I had been arrested yesterday night and today I was being taken to the court for justice. justice to all those people who were murdered by me. I just looked out blankly. I still seemed to not understand why things were happening in my life. soon we reached the high court. I was pushed out of the van as usual and was taken into the court. I stood on the elevated site which was enclosed with wooden railings on all sides.

my hands still handcuffed.

the court was packed with people, all busy talking to one another. I suddenly noticed Aryaman and Devika in a deep conversation.

I kept looking at them until I caught Devika's eye. she looked at me for a while and smiled. I somehow felt a certain fakeness in it. her her smile seemed ungenuine. my throat went dry as I looked around. Randhir stood, his head high with victory.

the lawyer who was fighting the case for me looked like a very experienced man. he was not very old, most probably in his early forties. his eyes held a spark, as if he knew exactly what he was supposed to say. how could he save me and prove that the crime I had done were not by me?

how could save me from the inevitable? I had to be punished. I could still remember my mother's words.

"everyone who does something wrong is always punished. whoever he might be."

I was already defeated. what effect had those words of Randhir done on me? I was left so hopeless.

I gulped as my heart drummed in my chest.

just then the judge walked into the court room. everyone stood up to greet him.

he sat down on his chair and said,

"order! order! silence in the court please.", he said banging the wooden  hammer on the small platform as everyone else sat down.

my lawyer begun,

"your honour, I am presenting this case in favour of Mr. Ranveer Pratap Singh.", he said with a bow.

the judge nodded.

"I shall present the case against the well known Gangster King.", the other lawyer said. he was a young man with a little beard. his sharp eyes said that although his experience was not much he was here to win this case.

he begun,

"your honour, there is not much to prove about Mr. Ranveer Pratap Singh. he is a criminal and all of us know of it, I really do not see the reason to fight this case here. nevertheless, this is the first evidence that proves that Mr. Ranveer is none other than the Gangster King.", he handed a photograph to the man who handed it to the judge.

the judge was an old man who wore spectacles. his wrinkled face showed that he had a huge amount of experience. he opened his spectacles and looked at the photograph closely.

"this picture is of Ranveer speaking to Mr. Goenka who had been arrested a few weeks ago for supplying ammunitions to the underworld.", he said.

my lawyer stated immediately,

"objection your honour.", he siad.

the judge nodded.

"this picture can be very easily photoshopped. it is quite an easy task. I can even photoshop my respected rival's face, will that make him the Gangster King?", he stared wittily as those others started laughing.

"order! order! silence in the court, please.", the judge said immediately as he noted down something.

"then all the evidences will be called fake. won't it be?", the other lawyer said.

"oh no! there are human beings also in this world. I would like to call upon my first witness. that is Mr. Aryaman.", my lawyer said.

"permission granted."

Aryaman, my father, rose from his seat and walked up to a similar pedestal on the other side of the court room, opposite to me.

"Mr. Aryaman what was Ranveer doing in your house?", my lawyer asked.

"Ranveer is like a son to me, your honour. I had just returned from Dubai that day and I wanted to celebrate it. this was the reason I had thrown a party and I had called him.", he said, his voice was confident and nobody could tell it was a lie.

"and why did he get himself arrested?", my lawyer asked.

"that is because inspector Randhir had placed a gun at my chest and had threatened that if he did not get himself arrested I would be killed. he too considers me to be his father and did that.", he started which was partly true.

"that clears out everything, your honour.", my lawyer said when the other lawyer stated,

"I too have witnesses who shall prove that Mr. Ranveer is nobody else but the Gangster King. I would begin with inspector Randhir.", he stated. I drew in a deep breath.

the suspense prevailed.
