Devika's Point of View:

i was soon standing in front of a small house which looked more shabby than i had expected. i slowly walked up to it and knocked the door. after a while the door opened to reveal Vinod.

"what brings you here?", he asked in a rather harsh tone.

"i have something to asked.", i said as he looked at me analytically for some time and then said.

"i am busy. come later.", saying so he tried to close the door as i stopped it with the hand which was not hurt.

"i need to speak to you now.", i said sharply.

he looked at me for sometime and then let me in.

"what do you want?", he asked as i walked into that shabby house.

the house was as bad as it had looked from outside.

it was the perfect house for conducting a shooting of a horror movie. the paint inside the infrastructure had been faded ages ago and the furniture looked moth - eaten.

"i want to know Ranveer's past.", i said confidently as he looked at me in shock for sometime.

"why?", he asked - his voice draining away.

"i want to know it and i am sure you will tell me Mr. Vinod.", i said more confidently.

he gulped nervously.

"you must not-"

"i must.", i said loudly interrupting him.

"fine. there is not much to his past. he was a billionaires son. his father was a disgusting man who left his mother and went into a relationship with somebody else. after a few years he threw both of them out of his house. for some time had lived in a rented flat until one day his mother committed a suicide. she had locked herself up the previous night and when the door lock was broken she was found hanging the ceiling."

"nothing else?", i asked feeling very bad for him.

"no.", Vinod said as i walked out of the house, back into the car.

i sat back looking at the passing road. Ranveer Pratap Singh.

the gangster and billionaire.

he had a past like that and maybe that was the reason that he ever became a gangster.

i walked out of the car to find him standing at the gate with the most unwelcoming smile. i felt a chill down my spine.

"how was you visit?", he said with a smile i gulped nervously.

"actually I-I", i started fumbling at the loss of words.

his presence was too frightening for me.

he held my hand softly and took me into his room. he locked the door and then said,

"did you actually think that i will not know that you visited Vinod?", he asked with an ingenue smile plastered on his face.

"no-no. actually I-I", i tried to speak but was cut off by sharp voice.

"actually you wanted to know my past and you thought it was absolutely perfect to go and ask Vinod because he knows me better than most people in this world.", he said leaning closer to me.

i merely nodded looking into his dark eyes.

"how do you feel after knowing my pas?", he said in a voice just above a whisper.

"i feel bad for you-", i had not completed my sentence as he pulled me closer to himself. he held me by my neck. his eyes fixed on my countenance.

"do not feel for me, Devika.", he said in a dangerous and threatening whisper. i merely nodded.

"i do not require anybody's sympathy. especially your.", he said sharply.

"i don't pity you-", before i could complete my sentence there was a knock at the door.
