I walk into the library and of course MaeLynn is sitting at the desk scrolling on her phone. Probably looking for more idols to prey on.

I force a smile on my face before approaching her, she glances up at me and smile.

Me: Hey.
Mae: Hey, Santana right?

Bitch you know it is.

Me: Yes!
Mae: Came to look at the psychology section again.
Me: Nope just to look at random books, nothing specific. I swear it seems like you're always here.

She laughs before nodding.

I want to beat her ass.

Mae: I am, it's the same old routine.
Me: Must be boring, you look so young. How old are you?
Mae: Twenty-three.

I act surprised.

Me: Wow, you're in the prime of your life and you're tied down to a library? Did you marry young, a family maybe?

I make the questions sound like playful banter but they're not, it's my way of finding information.

Mae: Goodness no! No kids or husbands.

Bingo.

She lets out a sigh before scanning the library.

Mae: Ever since I was little I love books, I loved getting caught into the fiction world. I can throw myself into a whole 'nother life. I can be another person.

So she likes fairytales and shit, interesting.

Me: I understand, it's like a break from being yourself.
Mae: Exactly!

The next part of my plan needs to be excuted carefully. She's crazy, not stupid.

Me: Well how about you start living like those people in your books? Let's have a few drinks tonight.
Mae: Really?

Something in her eyes twinkle sending a shiver up my spine.

Me: Yeah, your place or my place?
Mae: My place is good.

She grins as she rights down her number and address.

Me: I will be by later.
Mae: Okay cool! Bye!

I pray this doesn't blow up in our faces.
