The thought of Sinik bonded to my grandmother lingered in my mind all the way to the dragon territory.
I desperately wanted to ask him, but was wholly embarrassed about revealing what i saw and unsure if i was ready to reveal my seer power.
i had told no one yet and was unsure when or if i should
Around midday, after almost a week of roughing it in the woods, we finally reached the dragons stronghold.
Their new home was nestled in a valley that laid between twin cliffs. It was a smart location. The cliff provided an advantage to see enemies coming from afar.
The lushness of the valley looked serenely, secure and lively with beautiful, fruitful greenery.
Our greeting was met with a fierce force of fire that nearly charred my father. I quickly deflected it away and growled at the perpetrator
A red dragon growled from atop one of the large cliffs over looking the outside forest
Another dragon more brown in color snarled at us with warning from the other cliff
"We are friends of Kizan!" Sinik bellowed
The brown dragon disappeared. Moments later a large man with bronzed skin, bare chested sporting cut off shorts, approached us
He wore the same stern expression as Kizan always did. The sight make my heart flutter, i was beyond excited to see him again.
I shifted Taylen in my arms as i addressed the man
"I am Ayala Kizan should be expecting us"
The mans gaze snapped to me, His eyes watched me curiously, scrutinizing.
Finally he spoke in a deep gravely tone
"You are welcome among us"
his eyes still watching me, then he turned and walked back into the valley
My father and i looked at each other warily, As we moved to follow. Sinik hesitated looking cautious and ever vigilant.
When we entered the valley the space teemed with life. I was instantly mesmerized. Small dragon children ran around playing, the woman wore little more than loincloth covering their breasts and womanhoods. All the men were either bronze or golden skinned and bared chested
I stopped the male that had greeted us with a hand on his broad shoulder, as i wondered where Kizan could be
He flinched out of my touch. i grimaced. perhaps dragons were touchy about...Touch
"My friend needs medical attention please" i said sweetly
Sinik glared at me with annoyance
I ignored him. his injury may have been healed and his strength renewed but i was not convinced, until someone confirmed it
He nodded and switched his direction, heading left
Many dragon people stopped their daily workings to stare. the women with inquisitive glances. the males with openly hostility
Sinik and my father seemed not to notice as they strutted with blatant confidence and purposefully, powerful strides.
They were men with indomitable spirits and i felt pride to be in their company
A hut looking structure made of straw and some muddy, clay looking substance came into view. As we neared it i assumed it was the medical building
We walked inside, a female dragon woman hurriedly greeted us. Her smile pleasant and welcoming.
The stoic, silent male who escorted us spoke briefly to her and then quickly departed.
I handed Taylen to my father and ushered Sinik to a seat
"What seems to be the trouble?" the dragon woman asked helpfully
"My... friend was injured on our journey here and i just wanted to be sure he is healed and fine" i whispered hoping to not wake the patients that laid around slumbering
"No problem" she smiled warmly
I watched as she moved to a table and began retrieving objects
As she moved back towards us my breath halted incredulously. A figure in the far back, laid on a fur lined mat snuggled closely to another woman
"Kizan" i said a little more louder than intended
His eyes shot open and he jumped to his feet. the female dragon he hugged closely awoke and watched him with confusion.
Guilt and shame colored his face as i stared in shock. Unmasked hurt filled my heart and watered my eyes
Why was he here hugging some other female when he swore he only had eyes for me? Anger mingled with my pain and i struggled to push it back as he walked toward me
Sinik stood protectively in front of me watching his advance with leery eyes
"Ayala" he said as he stopped in front of me ignoring Sinik's protective stance
I could disintegrate his balls right? That would totally be justifiable right now no?
The poor dragon woman doctor looked frightened and worried
"What are you doing Kizan?" i hissed attempting to not lose my temper
"Let us talk outside, he said in that infuriating calm tone of his
I watched the female he was with gaze at us with barely guarded jealous confusion
I walked out the structure, Kizan following. Sinik moved to follow also but he halted at my stony look
Once we were cleared of the building i stared at him arms crossed defensively
"It is not as it seems" he stated
"O is that right?, so you weren't snuggled up intimately with a woman who wasn't me?"
he didn't respond only watched me
"She had an ordeal in that chamber underground. She was malnourished and scared. she found comfort in my presence, i only hoped to aid with her recovery"
Again i rained in my temper
"Kizan, that happened a year ago you are trying to tell me she has not healed since. All the others i have seen are fine" i said gesturing to the many dragon women milling about contentedly
"She has had it worse than most" he insisted. She cannot control her beast form and has awoken from nightmares feral, flaming everything in her path."
I shook my head.
"She is not the only one that has suffered from the torture of that chamber. there were other patients in that room. why do you feel so responsible for this one?" i demanded
He looked hesitant to answer. He moved closer reaching to touch me, i stepped back immediately
He halted at my rejection. His expression remained stoic but his eyes looked saddened
"Who is she to you Kizan?"
"She is my friend" he stated
I sensed there was more to it though
Ipierced his with a fierce stare
"And?"
He exhaled heavily, stress lining the handsome lines of his face
"She......She was once my betrothed"...................................
So the reunion not so happy?
What do you think will happen next?
Do you think Sinik was bonded to her grandmother?
