The Grezi forest was a perilous thing. It was notorious in the fae realm for its insurmountable dangers. It held ancient magical illusions designed to punish ill hearted fae and disorient the righteous in a test of will. I considered myself a man of great heart and courage. However after the 4th day I endured the endless illusions of the forest, I could feel myself not only growing impatient but increasingly unhinged

I fought the effects valiantly knowing what it was but his mind was not listening.

Stop walking you will not find what you seek

Go back you will die

What purpose do you continue for. She does not love you. she does not even like you

She will betray you just like  Myla did

Continuous rants and raging pounding through my mind as i continued on putting one determined foot in front of the other

My steps faltered

LEAVE  NOW before it is too late!!

I fell to a  knee exhaustion of the mental and physical taking a toll on my sanity and body.  i spotted a small stream up ahead and hobbled quickly to it

Feeling my strength waning i drank heartily staring into the reflection of the clear substance.Just then a face appeared above my own peering down at me.

Startled i drew my sword and turned to face the intruder

But there was no one

Perplexed, I spun around looking to the water and there it was again

What the hell was going on?  i thought angrily

The man laughed at my bewildered expression

"SHOW YOURSELF!!" i demanded

"I am commander" he stated calmly disregarding my anger

"I do not see you"

"I cannot show myself in physical form unfortunately it is has become much to dangerous for me"

"Who are you?"

"I believe you know that commader. After all it is you have have come seeking me"

I fell silent  My eyes staring at the mans in the stream suspiciously

"The finder" i whispered

He grinned

"Very astute. Your reputation is not fabrication then"

Instantly the fog i felt begins to clear from my head

"Ayla, where is she? Please tell me"

Th finder smiled again at my urgency

"You already know where she is"

"What? How can i know where she is?  if i did i wouldn't be here asking" I growled in annoyance

"You and her are connected. you have always been. you only need to look inside yourself. that is where she has resided always" he said cryptically

I gaped at the man as if he were crazy. perhaps he was.

had i wasted my time and energy tracking him down?

Was this all for nothing?

I sneered at him irritated. my expression showing how insane i was beginning to think he was

"I don't know what your talking about old man, but i don't have time for your games ti-"

"Look" he demanded his own face twisting in impatience and indignation

"LOOK!!"

"Look at what?" I spat then the water rippled before me shimmering and distorting

Our faces disappeared and an image suraced, a scene began to play across the stream

A man with dark obsidian hair and eyes stalked through the corridors. I recognized it as one of those dreadful facilities Ayla was born in

The man walked with a hard but focused expression on his face. Suddenly he slammed into a tiny figure who fell  away from his tall frame

The man stalled and looked  down at the small girl. She stared  back at him not older than 5 Her eyes watching him wary with concern and interest instead of the fear he expected

Those eyes

Amber yellow

So familiar yet not

He leaned down and hauled her back to her feet, but as soon as her tiny hands gripped his arm a shockingly sharp jolt shot through him straight to his heart

It began to race a furiously beat, A warm feeling encompassing his body and he felt  a completeness he had never felt since the death of his beloved father

The little girl smiled up at him and then took off down the corridor disappearing before he could find out more about her; leaving the man confused with a deep sense of profound loss

The image in the water fades and I step back quickly, my heart pounding with confusion, my mind running wild with thoughts

That scene was no...Not a scene, a memory. my memory suddenly i remember it

The king sending me to find his daughter. Her trail leading me to a dead end at that facility. I recalled running into that little girl under disguise. The disturbing  way i felt upon seeing her, touching her

The man in the stream. the finder spoke then

"You see now commander she was always connected to you. Meant for you. Didi you ever wonder why you were so enamored with her grandmother, you even wanted her mother, although you did a better job of resisting that one"

I swallowed hard knowing it was truth. No one knew but i did feel drawn to Ayla's mother Adora. but fought the attraction due to my ill fated affair with her mother.

"It wasn't them you wanted, or ever loved. It was the connection to the lost princess that you searched for. Since before she was even conceived you were for her"

"That's ludicrous how can someone be meant for me who was not even born yet?" I chuckled at his absurdity

As i laughed off his words The laughter abruptly  died at the serious look he pierced me with

"Well commander. It is  a little word with a enormous concept, called Destiny"............

So Sinik ha met Ayala before do you believe the finder was right? was he always meant for her? Or was it all coincidence rather than fate?
