I race through the darkened woods running as quick as my feet will allow. My breaths are coming out in panicked pants and my legs are turning numb from exertion, yet i push forward anyway. I cannot let him catch me. I know if he catches me it will be the end for me. I'm unsure how i know this but i do. I need to get out of here, away from him, but there is nothing except endless woods no matter how far i go.
I can feel him all around me, closing in. He is enjoying my terror. the chase thrills him. He thinks my end is inevitable, my resistance futile. I speed through the trees wishing I had my powers to aid me. I stop abruptly when i come upon a waterfall. It's a 20 feet drop. I wonder if i should risk it?. Will it matter?. Suddenly i see him. he walks slowly from around a tree. His dark cloak blending with the inky blackness of the night. His luminescent eyes glowing at me. Fear like I've never felt turns my blood to ice as i step back towards the edge of the cliff. He continues moving ever closer and i know unless i jump now, this will be it for me.
One step. Two steps. three.
I spin around ready to jump
"Ayla wake up!"
I jolt awake searching my surroundings frantically.
Sinik glares down at me annoyance on his face
"It is time to train lets go now"
I climb out the bed and follow
My heart still pounds from the dream. I know what is happening now though ,thanks to Rykell. That was the dream power man. He was attempting to capture me. enslave me in my my own mind like Rykell warned me he can do. He also said that it was a rare fae power and that he had to be in my vicinity.
There are only two fae's among this camp unless the fae lurks nearby, somewhere in the forest. Immediately trepidation fills me and i realize its time to confide in my father. One of the two fae among us may be a traitor.
but first i have to get my training out the way.
i trudge distractedly after Sinik as he leads us to wherever he wants us to train. The sun has not yet risen and i cannot even remember a time where i beat the sun awake. I feel like the walking dead after that nightmare.
i watch his back and wonder could he be the traitor? I want to believe no. he has diligently protected me and Taylen, but I couldnt be sure.
Great.. now there are two psychos stalking me in my dreams
Suddenly my stomach grumbles nosily
"Couldn't we eat breakfast first" I whine to his back
It protests again louder
He stops turning to me with a scowl.
"No. As a warrior you will learn that there may be times where you do not have food. For days sometimes. You must learn to channel your energy from elsewhere. Food does not fuel you. It only assists in fueling you. You fuel yourself. Am i clear". He asks demandingly
I nod silently
"I said am i clear" he growls
"Yes" i snap
"Yes, commander" he reprimands his eyes holding mines. challenging me
"Yes, Commander"
He turns and continues walking.
I want to growl and slap him for his tone, but oddly enough i appreciate it. I know he is only trying to do his job. He wants to toughen me up and harden me. I know him to be a damn good fighter and under his command i will definitely thrive. so i say nothin and follow
