(Mya's POV)
"Are you ready for tonigh?" Marley asked.
"Yeah." I replied.
We were on our way to the stadium that was only about fifteen minutes from our neighborhood. I was driving because if Marley drove when she was this excited we would never get there....alive. She wasn't a bad driver but when she gets excited, I get nervous so I drive.
"We gonna have a great time. I know it." Marley reassured me as I pulled into the parking lot.
My only reply was a slight smile. I found a parking spot not far from the entrance and pulled in before anyone could steal it from me. We got out of the car and Marley immediately took of running to the very long line of people waiting to be let in. We stood in line for what seem like three hours but it was more like twenty minutes. Eventually the line starting moving and we were getting let in. Finally it was our turn to go in. We handed our tickes to the man scanning them. He gave them back and we turned to go inside.
"Hold up." He said, putting his arm out to stop us.
"What?" Marley asked. "Is something wrong?"
"No. You see, we're holding a little contest tonigh, and you are our winner." The man replied, pointing at me.
"I am?" I asked. "What did I do?"
"Your tickets was the 500th ticket scanned tonight. So, I'll stamp your hand and when the show's over you can go with people with backstage passes where the Newsboys will tell you your prize. And you get to bring a friend." The man explained.
I looked over at Marley and we stuck out our hands. Once they were stamped, Marley practically dragged me inside the building, a huge grin on her face.
"Oh my gosh, Mya!" Marley exclaimed. "I can't believe you won!"
"Me either." I agreed. "And all I did was stand in line."
Marley clapped her hands together. "Alright. Find our seats first and then merch or merch and then find our seats?"
I snicker. "Let's get merch first since we're heading backstage after the show."
Marely nodded and literally dragged me to the Newsboys table. When we got in line it didn't take me long to figure out what I wanted. Marley, on the other hand, looked as if she was about to make the most important decision of her life.
Thankfully when it was our turn, she had made her decision. We both got a shirt, a poster and a cd. Once we put our stuff in our bags, we were off to find our seats. After several minutes of climbing down stairs and weaving through the floor seats, we finally found them. And just as Marley had said, they were the very front row, right in the middle. We sat and waited for a few more minutes, watching as all the seats around us got filled. And finally, the lights dimmed and the music started.
(Time skip to after the show cause I is the lazy)
"Oh my gosh! That was amazing!" Marely cried.
"I know." I agreed. "That was probably the best Newsboys show I've been to. Thanks for bringing me out. I really needed it."
"Anything for my best friend." Marley replied, wrapping me in a small hug.
We were currently following the crowd of people who had backstage passes. The man who had scanned out tickets lead us into a large room. I peaked over the shoulders of the people in front of me. The Newsboys had already started signing and meeting people. Marley and I had gotten our posters out and ready. We were still a ways away from the boys but we were slowly getting closer.
"It's almost our turn!" Marley whispered.
"I know." I whispered back. I put my hand on her shoulder. "When we get up there, please don't freak out. Especially when you meet Jody."
Jody was Marley's favorite. She would go on and on about him. As for me, I really didn't have a favorite. Marley always told me I had to have a favorite so if I had to pick a favorite, I'd pick Jeff.
Marley nodded. "Ok. I'll try my best."
Finally the moment came. We were next! We walked up and Marley handed Jeff her poster and once he signed it and passed it to Jody, I handed him mine.
"Hey guys." Jeff greeted us. "Did you enjoy the show?"
"Of course we did!" Marley answered. "You guys are awesome!"
"And the security guard mentioned a contest." I added, holding up my hand. "I won apparently."
"Well, congratulations." Michael said, shaking our hands. "If you two would like to wait over to the side, once we've met everyone well tell your your prize."
Marley and I nodded and stood off to the side and watched as the boys met everybody who was behind us. Finally as the last person left, the boys turned to us.
"Ready to hear what your prize is?"Duncan asked us.
Marley nodded vigorously. "Yep."
"How does joining us on tour sound?" Michael said.
Marley and I looked at each other as our jaws dropped to the floor. Our prize....was going on tour with the Newsboys?!.
"We get to go on tour?!" Marley gasped. "With the Newsboys?!"
"Yep." Jeff replied.
"So how does this work?" I asked.
"We'll pick you guys up tomorrow morning and then we'll head out on the road." Michael explained.
Marley and I looked at each other again before We gave them my address and drove home. We stopped by Marley's apartment so she could pack her things and soend the night at my house. When we got to my house, Marley almost broke the door with her excitement.
"Hi, girls." My mom greeted us. "How was the show?"
"It was awesome!" Marley screamed. "They were holding a contest and Mya won!"
My mom turned to me. "That's wonderful, sweetie. What did you win?"
A lump formed in my throat. I had to tell her the truth. I looked over at Marley and she gave a small reassuring nod and smile.
I lowered my head. "Mom, I lied to you. We actually went to a Newsboys show. Our prize is that we get to go on tour with them."
"They're picking us up in the morning." Marley added, her excitement drained away.
My mom was silent for a moment. I felt so bad. One way or another, I knew i was breaking her heart.
"If you don't want us to go, we can stay and-" I began.
"No. You two should go." My mom interjected. "You won, you should go."
"Are you sure?" I asked. "Will you be okay without me?"
"I will, Mya. I promise." My mom reassured. "Now, you better go pack."
I gave my mom a quick hug then Maleyw and I sprinted up stairs. I packed most of my clothes and a backpack full of anything else I wanted to bring. I put my back by my door them changed into my pajamas and nestled under my blankets, while Marley slept in a sleeping bag by my bed. It's my last time sleeping in this bed,
Because tomorrow....
I'm was going on tour.
