(Mya's POV)

It was around 11:30 in the morning when we made it to the venue where the boys were performing, so we had about seven hours until the show.

"So now what?" I asked, as we climbed out of the bus.

"We unload everything and get ready for sound check." Michael explained.

"Cool." Marley said. "Can we help?"

"Nope." Duncan answered. "You two are our guest. Leave everything to us."

"Come on." Avery chimmed, beckoning us over. "I'll show you where we can sit and watch them do their sound check."

We said goodbye to the boys and followed Avery to the floor section of the arena. We sat and talked why the boys and the crew set up the stage. Watching them set everything up made me realize that there's a lot more equipment than I thought there was.

"So what happens during sound check?" Marley asked.

"Well once they set everything up, they'll play a couple of songs to make sure everything sounds good." Avery explained.

"Cool." Marley smiled.

"And if you want, you can get up close and see their individual set ups so-" Avery beagn but before she could finish, Marley bolted out of her seat and over to Jody's side of the stage.

"you can see what they boys do individually." Avery finished with a small laugh. "She's a little excited."

"You have no idea." I replied, getting out of my seat.

I walked around for a minute, looking at the empty arena. Tonight it'll be filled.....I'll be watching the show from backstage.

I smiled to myself and hopped up on stage amd walked over to Jeff's side. He looked up and smiled at me. "How was your first night on the bus?" He asked.

"It was pretty good." I replied. "Those bunks are more comfortable than thought."

Jeff laughed and looked back down at his keyboard. "Are you excited to see your first Newsboys show from backstage?"

I nodded. "It'll be cool to see how the show runs from behind the scenes."

Jeff smiled and looked up and across the stage to where Marley was "listening" to Jody show her his guitars. I knew that if I asked that girl what Jody was telling her, she would have absolutely no idea what he had said.

"I guess Marley is the bigger fan between the two of you." He observed.

"Definitely." I answered with a small laugh. "We might have to warn Jody to watch his back." I looked down at his keyboard. "So, what are you doing to your keyboard?"

"Just cleaning it." Jeff replied. "I've already done my usual pre-show sound checks."

I gently ran my hand along the keyboard."Cool."

"Do you play any instruments?" Jeff asked, putting away his cleaning supplies.

I shook my head. "I wanted to learn piano but I never got around to it."

"Well, you are here for a whole year," Jeff said, flashing me a small grin. "I could teach you."

I smiled and turned to head off stage. "I might take you up on that."

(Time skip)

Marley and I were walking around backstage waiting for the show to start. The arena was packed now with excitement and waiting fans. Avery was checking with the crew to make sure that everything was ready to go while the boys were finishing getting ready. A few more minute went by and they came out of their dressing room.

"Are we good to go?" Michael asked.

"Whenever you guus are." The stage manager replied.

"Are you guys ready?" Duncan asked us.

"Yep." I replied.

"Good luck." Marley cheered. "Not like you need it."

And with that the boys made their way out on stage. The arena was dark but there was just enough light that the audience could make out the guys figures which resulted in a uproar of cheers.

They started the show with "That's How You Change the World" and then they went into "Born Again."  After the song ended and the cheering died down, Michael stopped to talk to the audience.

While he was talking, I found my attention not on him but on Jeff. I didn't know why. He had taken a step back from his keyboard and was listening to Michael. Sometimes he would smile or laugh a little which I couldn't help but smile at myself. I had never thought about it before but I've never noticed how beautiful Jeff's smile was.

I shook my head. Did I really just think that? It can't mean anything, I told myself. Though I was beginning to think some of Marley's habbits were rubbing off on me.

And I could alreay tell that this would be an eventful year.
